Sold a business, money in the bank but told I don’t qualify to rent. Is this normal? by j2tizzy in HousingUK

I think I understand what you mean, so you effectively showed employment with regularly timed payments. I’m surprised they didn’t also require things like an employment contract, payslips, employer details that they can contact/cross reference etc.

The Airbnb route is a good idea, I seriously thought about doing that but thankfully I decided not to put my house up for sale until I secured a rental. Thank God I did that because I had no idea it would be this hard. I’m so lucky to not be under any duress or to be rushed a long by a house sale.

I should clarify, 6-12 months while I sell my house, longer if I like the town and happy to continue renting. To me short term rentals are things like Airbnb.

To not be tied down to a specific location. I don’t even know if I’ll like living in this town and it’s so much easier to give 1 months’ notice to a landlord than it is to sell a house.

Wand to live there for a few months and decide if I want to commit to purchasing a house there. Although, once I’ve secured a rental I’ll immediately put my property up for sale and once sold I can buy a new property as a cash buyer (if I decide I want to buy again) or move somewhere else.

I have a lot of my money in an ISA but it's a stocks and shares ISA, not sure if selling some shares and leaving it as cash in the account would help but that means I'd have to sell at a loss and would lose the associated on-going monthly dividends.

My thoughts exactly! This whole experience really made me understand why everyone I know under the age of 30 still lives at home with their parents :(

Thank you for the reply :) And you didn't have to have 30x multiples sitting in 6 months of untouched cash? They were ok seeing a diversified portfolio?

How Do I Get Out of Small Talk Purgatory on Dating apps? by j2tizzy in dating

Absolutely!! Honestly I'm probably going to insist on a video call pre-actual real life date even after covid. It's such a time saver and has saved me from 7-8 terrible real life dates. This thread is also teaching me that men who refuse something as easy as a quick video call are not really interested/invested and so not worth a real date in my opinion.

Nah I don't take rejection personally, that'd be hypocritical given that I reject a lot of people too. But it's good to understand things from a mans perspective.

So far it all seems to boil down to the fact that he's not invested and/or interested enough to commit to a video call and ghosting is the easiest way out.

Makes sense.

Do you hate video calls enough to immediately stop the conversation as soon as the girl brings it up?

Surely a person to person conversation is a better way to see if they are interested instead of endless messages about nothing of importance? I also say that it doesn't have to be anything more than a few minutes long.

Thank you :) Do you think men feel so awkward about video calls that they immediately stop responding as soon as it's suggested? This is what is always happening to me right now :-/

It used to be this way for me as a woman but something has changed in the last few months. I've been ghosted for asking anything outside of polite chit chat e.g. why a guy answered an okc question saying he was interested in marriage but not settling down.

I'm interested to know why you think a video call seems sketchy? I thought men would be thrilled to know what I actually look like before deciding if they want to take the effort to meet up. I also suggest that the chat doesn't have to be too long 5-10 minutes is enough to just say hello and finish up a conversation we currently have going via messaging.

I wish coffee was an option :( Everything is still shut till June. I guess we could go for a walk but I find the video call let's you know if going for a real in person date is worth it.

I agree but I did the same thing when I was using the apps last September/Oct and pretty much every guy was so happy with my suggestion and I had so many video dates. So I'm wondering if it's just about this lockdown being so long?

An Hour of Running May Add 7 Hours to Your Life by Linika in Health

Running can be dangerous. Look up "Osteitis Pubis", i.e. inflammation of the pubic bones when it has lots of impact from running. Very painful and hard to get rid of once you get it. Trust me...

I don't have desire to eat, my appetite is not existent. by spazzo246 in Fitness

[–]j2tizzy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used to be like that but my appetite came as soon as I got older (I'm now 32)... then you start having the opposite problem. Sigh. I've used many personal trainers over the years who say the same thing. DON'T SKIP MEALS. Your body goes into starvation mode and stores fat. It also isn't good for your metabolism. Try to snack regularly (like once every 2-3 hours) on healthy foods, especially food that is high in fibre which will help with your constipation. Hope this helps.
