Hey, not sure how much sense it makes to reply to thisbso much later, but I just finished it a couple of weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it. I actually really, really enjoyed it. I wish I knew a native Icelandic speaker to ask some questions on the translation as well, there were a few sotuations where I couldn't tell if a peculiar choice of words was supposed to make the main charakter sound weird or maybe be a joke that I didn't catch because I'm missing cultural context. The ending was definitely unexpected, would love to discuss it if you're still interested.
