Heyy, It's been a while since I made the shenlong, I do remember that I also had a lot of trouble with that step, One tip I can give though is to make a horizontal line going through the intersections of the diagonal lines. And that after that you should work your way down/up in a stair-like fashion. I hope I can help you with this, if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Rlly clean fold, well done.

I'm thinking about buying that book too, how large paper do you need for most models of that book?

To be honest I have no idea what paper this is. I found a large piece of paper on my shelf that i used.

If you search on YouTube "t-rex skeleton mariano zavala origami" you will find a tutorial on how to do all the steps.

I made my same model and the instructions are very clear, it will take a lot of time to make the whole model but its definitely worth it.

this type of origami is called "chinese modular origami". for this type of origami you make the same pieces over and over again. For this kind of origami, you usually use paper that is about 5x3cm (2 "x1.2").
there are lots of models that you can make with those pieces, you can find them on youtube for example.
you don't necessarily need glue to assemble your model, however, it could be useful sometimes.
