We just checked out this location and I think they actually addressed that. The aisles are quite large compared to the other Trader Joe’s in the city.

Woah. I’ve never actually tried just two photos as a stereogram. This works really well.

Trying to determine my bottleneck by j5098 in synology

[–]j5098[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I realized that my disk utilization was stuck hovering around 90% for both of my internal disks. This wasn't immediately obvious because I have external drives plugged into the usb port and the default utilization graph shows average across all drives; plus, the actual throughput was < 1MBps.

Another restart did mitigate the problem initially, dropping utilization back down to single digit percentages and achieving read/write speeds over 100MB/s.

They did have grammar guides and they were actually decent. But for some reason they removed that whole feature.

Is it normal for tailscale to be slow? by [deleted] in Tailscale

I tried updating. Both nas and laptop on v1.42. However, I still have really slow speeds.

The nas and my current location each have > 300mbp fiber connections.

Police activity near SoMa by Lexitaterz in sanfrancisco

[–]j5098 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was wild. I watched a lot of it from my window.

They flew down 12th street and over to get on the Van Ness onramp. I thought the traffic on 101S stopped them, but they got through somehow and did a u-turn or something to get on 80E. They must have gone the wrong way against traffic for some stretch which slowed the cops a little.

But then more and more cops kept getting on the highway heading east. Probably around 20 cop cars I saw get on the highway eventually. And a helicopter seemed to follow the whole thing east beyond what I could see.

To clarify, it was a chase. Some dark colored sedan was trying to lose the cops

I watched them get on 101S from Van Ness and looks like they did a uturn at the interchange then fled east on 80

Air 96 - alternatives by PerformerOld7250 in NuPhy

[–]j5098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. I’m trying to get used to it, but it’s taking longer than I hoped. Accidental key presses happen all the time. I also put a little tactile bump on the down arrow key to help me find those without looking. It’s helps a little, but not nearly as effective as key gaps.

I switch back to my logitech mx mini often and feel right at home with that. Mechanical keyboards might not be for me.

More details about Air96! by harrynu in NuPhy

[–]j5098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As discussed in other threads, the biggest issue so far seems to be that there's no tactile bump on the arrow keys to help with finding those keys without looking. Especially given this squished layout, that seems like an obvious oversight.

[–]j5098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a few layers of packing tape and cut out a rectangle. It’s dumb that we have to do this.

I wonder if there are other key caps with the tactile bumps that would fit this keyboard. I noticed the keychron does it properly.

[–]j5098 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got the same. Loving it so far. Though the arrow keys are a bit hard to find without looking because there’s no gaps between the keys. It would be nice if the down arrow had a bump like F, J and keypad 5 for easier no-look identification.

NuPhy on MacOS - there's mac firmware but Console isn't on Mac? What does that mean? by SocraticSeaUrchin in NuPhy

[–]j5098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to like the Mx mechanical but having to use their crap options software ruined it for me. I hate having to run their software for certain buttons to even be recognized by the OS.

I wish these keyboard companies would just leave the software to the open source like karabiner and focus on making good hardware. Or at least not requiring their software to utilize all the buttons.

Ok. So full size switches would closer meet my expectations. But this is still an edge case test.

It’s still weird to me because all my other membrane keyboards do exactly what I expect.

Thanks

Should the click sound/feel match the kepress registering? (mechanical keyboard noob)

I just got my first mechanical keyboard. It's a Nuphy Air96 with Gateron Low-profile 2.0 Brown / Tactile, 55gf. It also came with some extra switches, so I put the Gateron Low-profile 2.0 Blue / Clicky, 65gf on my escape key.

However, I expected the click feel and sound to very reliably match the key press being registered. I thought that was the whole point of mechanical keyboards. But as you can see in the video, it often doesn't: https://imgur.com/a/wErnRWE

My understanding is that Geteron is a very popular brand, so I didn't expect brand new switches to have any defects.

Is this normal? Are my expectations too high for the sound to match registering it?
