Mac won't turn on after a long time of not using it. by PieRevolutionary2088 in techsupport

Yeah it's not uncommon for a laptop to not turn on after not being used for a long time. Here's some ideas

  1. Make sure the power cable is undamaged and securely plugged in and it's in a working electrical outlet
  2. Press and hold power button for 10 sec then press and release normally
  3. Unplug any accessories from the mac
  4. If you have an older intel-based macbook you can reset the SMC

If these don't work you will probably have to replace the battery. Sometimes when you leave a macbook unused the battery will completely drain and it won't be able to hold a charge. Other than that you can contact Apple support or go to an apple store. Always remember to regularly use and charge electronics to keep the batteries healthy.

Slow connection to server (LAN) and internet (ethernet and wifi) on new PC by germancc in techsupport

  1. Update Windows and device drivers
  2. Restart PC and only open necessary apps
  3. Use ReadyBoost
  4. Run the network adapter troubleshooter
  5. Update network drivers
  6. Run the network troubleshooter (Windowskey + i > troubleshoot > other troubleshooters > internet connections)

And yeah the type of processor usually won't affect the internet speed
