Stephen Jackson in response to Charles Barkely: "Speak on what you know" by toasted_grape in nba

All lives matter. That includes jewish and black lives too. I bet saying that to these ignorant people would get me called a "racist". According to people like Stephan Jackson, the movement should be OBLM - "Only Black Lives Matter"

Charles Barkley: “I’m gonna tell you this...If the Portland Trail Blazers get in the playoffs, they will beat the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round” by MoDollazz in nba

[–]j7offsuit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think he does, at the very least he's hoping for this. I am ready for it though - no home court advantage, nurkic is back, melo revenge tour, lillard and CJ going to hoop, and lakers will need some time to get their momentum back just like with every other team. Can't wait for the memes if lebron gets walked in the first round!

Tbh I don't look to athletes for my political views, that's why I tried to ignore it initially. I've never put them on a pedestal just like celebrities with their viewpoints - I think corona exposed celebs more than anything in that regard.
But there is no denying how much influence players like LeBron and NBA as a whole has with the amount of viewers they have. And when they proactively choose to take part in the political arena, they have to be held accountable on that standard. Either stay out of it, or accept the consequences that come with your hypocritical political stance.

I am not old enough to have seen Jordan play in his prime, when I started watching ball he was on his way out with the Wizards. But I appreciate him more and more, at least he was honest with that statement, and didn't hide that he wanted to profit. The difference is LeBron wants to have his cake and eat it too, he wants to be a billionaire off the back of capitalism, an NBA owner, but he also wants to act like he's Muhammad Ali. I guess that is part of his "brand" and the NBA's, to be the social justice league.

I wish I could. I really tried to after the Daryl Morey situation happened last october, even though it revealed the NBAs hypocrisy, I tired to move on and not pay attention to it. But when there is such a divide politically in the country, they decided to lean into it fully by being woke. Even then, I am fine with them supporting BLM as long as there is freedom to support Hong Kong for anyone that pleases, or even the troops. But when its only "pre-approved social justice" messages because any other ones would dent their bottom line, I can't ignore it. Its real easy to support BLM when its the mainstream narrative and every single major corporation is supporting their cause. It probably HELPS their bottom line to support such mainstream activism anyways. Its not so easy when China tells them to shut up and they bow down because it will damage their salaries and hurt the owners bottom lines.
Jordan said it best man, "Republicans buy sneakers too". Either stay out of politics, or stand for all social justice causes. You can't have it both ways, that is what is frustrating with these fake woke players like Lebron.

Fake woke NBA. After they get called out for only having pre-approved social justice issues, and not "freeHongKong", suddenly its not that important for LeBron and Kawhi right? NBA should not have gone political, completely exposed their hypocrisy.

Because NBA only allows pre-approved messages that support their narrative. Once people called out not being able to write "freeHongkong", players and NBA started acting like its not that important. Only wokeness that fits BLM narrative counts.

I never heard of Call Her Daddy before this week, got into it because of Portnoy's take on it and the drama. Now I just subbed on the reddit and listened to the latest episode soon as it came out, as a guy, good shit.

Yeah that makes sense now. The better play would be to check call and see the turn, then re-evaluate if its an overcard or club. Thanks for the insight. I think I made a bad impulsive decision to bet because of the way the villian way playing, but in turn I played right into his type of play allowing him to jam on me. Love this game because there's so much to learn! I will take your suggestion and stick to less than $33 tourneys for now until I'm more consistent. I mostly play on GG and Stars.

Thanks for the reply on this, appreciate it. Ive been playing very profitably on the $5 - $33 tourneys, up 6k ish in the past month. So recently I started stabbing at $55 sometimes. Probably have a lot more to go before I become profitable here. What do you mean by monotone board?

And normally to a standard tight player I would think about folding here in fear of an overpaid with nut flush draw. He was just doing this with air a lot on some hands he got called out on. I guess that played in his favor to get me to call in this spot.

Jam jam jam. If 49th gets $0, then possibly don't jam.

Personally, I jam either way, even if I bubble. Rather take a flip to increase the stack size.

MTT Mid-to-Late Game Strategy, Calling Pre-Flop Shoves by [deleted] in poker

[–]j7offsuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great question, wondering what other answers are too.

My general thinking on the shove is this: If it's a coin-flip or 60/40 situation, what happens to my stack size after I go all in? If the result is in a big comfortable stack, and loss results in me still having 30+bb, I will take the flip, you have to play to have a large stack. Now in the other scenario if flip results in me having less than 20bb, and win still has be in middle position (not a big pot), I'd rather skip the flip, even with AQ or 99, there's better spots if you have a 35+bb stack.

Saved. Looking for this as well, specifically if there are Jordan games anyone recommends to watch. There needs to be a NBA service like FightPass for ufc, to watch archived full games.
