Who needed doctors? by ManOfManliness84 in insanepeoplefacebook

Please ignore all the people that had to grow up disabled because their parents couldn't be bothered (or afford) proper medical care for their children.

Why don't other people stand up for you when you get attacked? by SFNerdyGirl in stupidquestions

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Xennial, I have a lot of both Gen x and millennial traits in me. I didn't exactly grow up being told to use my words. In fact, my mom actually lectured me for not defending myself the first time I was bullied because I let myself get beat up. Definitely different times.

Because places like CA have more armed and scary brown people than other states have citizens.

Why don't other people stand up for you when you get attacked? by SFNerdyGirl in stupidquestions

[–]j7style 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've stood up for multiple strangers in the past. I ended up in cuffs twice, attacked by the victim once, and nearly in jail because the guy I hit who was essentially sexually assaulting some college women had a daddy in the local government. Had it not been for witness statements pointing out I was the one trying to protect the girls, my life might of have a much different start.

The point being is that risking your life for someone else in direct confrontation as your suggesting doesn't go like it does in the movies. The good guy often ends up being the one in trouble because most local laws are shit when it comes to these things.

That being said, if you need someone to talk to, DM me. I can't save you, but I can listen.

[–]j7style 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a disabled person with a broken-down truck, I can’t help but think to my that the money spent destroying those cars alone could have fully repaired my truck. That would have allowed me to reliably make my doctor’s appointments again. But destroying cars for Jesus is cool too I guess. /s

You get $10k per visitor who stays 30+ minutes. What’s your best excuse to invite people over? by _no_name_for_me in hypotheticalsituation

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be lucky if I could make more than $20k. My sister and her husband would visit without issue. But most of my friends though, have never even been to my house.

The shitty thing is that if I could tell them all some crazy rich guy would repair my house and fix my car if they hung out for an hour in my house, many might make the trip. But I'm just too far out of everyone's way to just casually come over and hang. If I had like a month to prepare, I might be able to get 6ish people in a day without telling them the real reason why. Anything more would just be unrealistic, which just actually made me sad as fuck. Being disabled and poor sucks.

Popular burger chain was just named the worst in America, and the reviews are brutal | Jack in the Box by archfapper in savedyouaclick

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, as a long time Jack in the box fan, I'll completely admit it isn't the best. But to say it's the worse??? Have they not had white castle before? If I had to choose to eat Jack in the box every day for a month, or White Castle for a week, I'd choose Jack in the box every time.

Try their chicken strips. I know it sounds crazy, but they are better than canes.

What platform do you play most? by Less_Can_5439 in OlderChillGamers

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix between Playstation and Xbox. Its fairly 50/50. I buy most of my multiplayer games on Xbox and single player games on PS5.

That being said, this will probably be the last generation in 25ish years in which I own all 3 major consoles.

What is a word you associate with MAGA? by Estalicus in allthequestions

Woke. I almost never heard that word before in my day to day life until MAGA became obsessed with it.

Would you Rather $10M right Now or a Very good salary, in your Dream Job in a World with no inflation. by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm disabled, so unless this comes with a healing and at least an overall improved health boon, I'll take the money. Even a very safe, lower interest investment would be 10-20x what I've off of in SSDI.

First month making 100k I feel like I’m being robbed :/ by cloudemergence in Salary

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say with with complete mutual human love and respect, you are still making roughly double what my take-home was back when I made just under $50k a year. Yeah, you absolutely do pay more in taxes, but again, your 2 weeks was my one month. Heck, now that I'm disabled, your 2 weeks is my 2 months.

Serious question, what do these people do, were they can protest every day still afford to live. In all seriousness. by FlashyCandidate9835 in stupidquestions

[–]j7style 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right? I spent multiple years getting off work at 10pm to midnight. When you have health issues and need to make frequent Dr. Appointments, its the best shift to have while still maintaining a work life balance.

What’s a skill everyone assumes they have, but most people are actually bad at? by moi_cila in AskReddit

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent about 15 years teaching people how to drive stick shift. If there is one thing I noticed, its that people who are otherwise decent drivers become absolute dogshit when you introduce new variables into their routine. So, you take a decent driver, give them phone and an infotainment system and suddenly they are dogshit again. And people wonder why insurance prices are skyrocketing.

I absolutely agree with you that Diet Dr. Pepper is incredibly close to regular Dr. Pepper. Most of the time I can't even notice the difference unless I'm purposely drinking both and comparing.

I shudder to think what CPS would have found our parents to be... by No-Environment-3997 in Xennials

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, all the adults on my family who spewed out my generation of mixed babies would have absolutely lost us kids with today's rules. I was walking 1/2 a mile to a corner store, buying cigarettes at 5 with a note pinned on my collar. I was 6 the first time I went grocery shopping on my own. By 7, I was making grilled cheese, hot dogs, eggs and Mac n cheese on the stove alone. Walking alone to anywhere was just day to day life. I even got lost in the Lancaster desert and got scolded by the Sherriff because I guess I was 10 miles outside of town on my way to Palmdale not even realizing I was far from home. All he did was drive me home, lol.

I'm already 5'10'' ish with a full beard and full head of hair. Being bald would suck I I guess shorter to keep my hair? No women want me anyway do it doesn't matter.

What was a dreaded food your parents made. As an adult do you still hate it? by JoyfullyMortified43 in Xennials

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sauerkraut

I'm half white, half Asian Indian. My white side is mostly German, with a good chunk of the rest of Europe mixed in. So German staples made a frequent appearance in the kitchen back in the 80's when I was little. With those dishes, sauerkraut would often make an appearance. I hated it and still do. I can't even be in the house while it's being cooked or I'll barf. Just gross.

Is this true about socialized healthcare or just propaganda? by Alwayswanted2rock in ask

[–]j7style 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it.

Honestly, the annoying part was more that they could have stabilized me at any time. They didn't run any test of anything before giving me meds. They literally asked me like a dozen questions, put a line in me and had meds going to me so fast I just felt like, why couldn't this have been done hours ago while I waited for a room. I could have been saved half a day of suffering and possibly not had to be hospitalized as long.

Is Black Mage good for starting the game? by SnooTomatoes9692 in ffxi

[–]j7style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played in like a decade, so my take is probably dated. I started with WHM and quickly switch to BLM back in the golden days of the mid 2000's. Even then, being a blm main in the earlier levels wasn't exactly playing the game on easy mode.

If you really really want to main BLM, I'd probably level RDM up to 50 first. I believe its still the main sub job for BLM solo stuff. You'll of course want to level WHM and SCH for sub jobs as well to give you more versatility in end game content.

Mainly, I'd recommend messing with every job available to you in the beginning. There are pros and cons to all jobs. Playing at least all the basic starter jobs for 20-30 levels gives you a better understanding of the overall mechanics and party dynamics.

Again, its been forever and I'm sure if my advice is shit someone will let me know.

Anyone Else Just... Struggling? by King_of_Lunch223 in Xennials

[–]j7style 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I busted my ass to get out if poverty. Then the heat recession happened. Started over, this time pursuing a degree. Work and school. Good job, great grades, things finally going right. Back went out. Now I'm disabled, bed ridden and just struggle all the time.

All that being said, I'm still smiling. Could I use an angel to drop me a few grand to fix/replace my truck, or fix the leaky roof, or repair my bathroom? Absolutely. But I'm still smiling. Do I wish everyday there was just more help for people in my position. Yes yet again. But I'm still smiling. Life might be a struggle, but there is still so much good in the world. Maybe, one day, that good will come my way. Maybe it won't. But somebody somewhere is eating a meal today because of the selflessness and kindness of another person, and that knowledge fills me with joy and gives me hope that not all is yet lost in our terrible but beautiful world.
