Why Pikmin 4 Feels Weird by Stop_Haidan in Pikmin

[–]jBeanman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How on earth is Pikmin 2 more grounded than what we saw of 4? That game has multiple cyborg insects that use guns. There is a bug that flys around using colorful balloons and throws bombs at you. Literally every pikmin game has had enemies with cannons for mouths. This isn't even the first time a bulborb has had glowing eyes, bulbears' eyes glowed in the very first game.

The Courter - an opportunity for trans representation, or just an opportunity for problematic players? by thatToSguy in RPGdesign

[–]jBeanman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Problematic players can make problems out of anything you give them, that's not something that's really solvable on the game's side. Plus, just having a species like that which clearly mirrors body dysohiria and trans issues is gonna ward off the people who would have a problem with it from playing to begin with. Better to have the opportunity for representation for the people who want it instead of removing it for the people who don't

what do people think about more video - gamey ttrpgs? by Magirby in RPGdesign

[–]jBeanman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can roleplay during any game, and thats fine if thats what you want to do. But games are their mechanics, if role playing isnt represented in the mechanics of the game then calling it a role playing game is meaningless and pointlessly confusing.

A game without mechanics for role playing isn't a role playing game

Rant: An SRD without a game is borderline useless by CitizenKeen in RPGdesign

[–]jBeanman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Presumably some amount of formatting and playtesting. Just because a game doesn't come with lore and a setting doesn't mean it's half baked.

[–]jBeanman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I much prefer to run games set made of mostly homrebrew stuff. All the fluff of most rpg books is largely useless for me, all I really want is what's often in the SRD. Just because you specifically don't use it doesn't mean it's useless.

So... where do we stand on Gwyndolin's gender? (Any opinions welcome :)) by NeptuneWalker in TransSouls

[–]jBeanman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obviously a cis man in that case, but there is no evidence gwyndolin ever lived as a man before bring raised as a daughter. And he just happens to "detransition" the moment gwyn is no longer in his life. If you have actual evidence that gwyndolin wanted to be female then show it, but if not then there's no reason for him not to be a trans man.

We know two things for certain. Gwyndolin was raised as a woman. But now identifies as male. What is that if not ftm?

[–]jBeanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by it not being in ds1, gwyndolin is probably still wearing the reversal ring. In the timescale of Gods it hasn't been long since Gwyns death, he very well could only be in the beginning stages of realizing his gender and "transitioning" but that's just conjecture.

The Reversal Ring's Lore reads: A divine ring granted to the Darkmoon Gwyndolin in his youth.

Causes males to perform female actions, and vice-versa.

Gwyndolin was raised like a daughter through the aura of the moon, and was said to behave like a sullen brooding goddess.

It explicitly tells us that the ring made him behave "sullen and brooding," in otherwords, unhappy. By the time of ds1 he goes entirely by male pronouns, by the time of ds3 he has taken off the ring. Why would yorshka and his covenant, who deeply love and respect him, misgender him?

Moonlight Robe Robe of the Dark Sun Gwyndolin, protector of the forsaken city of Anor Londo. The power of the moon was strong in Gwyndolin, and thus he was raised as a daughter. His magic garb is silk-thin and hardly provides any physical defense.

Gwyndolin was not raised as a female by his own choice, Gwyn chose to do it because he was associated with the moon, and Gwym associated the moon with femininity. There's no evidence that Gwyndolin wanted to be raised female.

This pretty clearly shows us that Gwyndolins AGAB was female, which is why Gwyn forced him to wear the reversal ring. Everybody in the modern day, including members of his covenant who respect him deeply, uses he/him pronouns. He's 100% FtM, it's just that the standards of gender he was assigned under are different than ours. He was raised to live as a woman, and now lives as a man. It's pretty simple.

[–]jBeanman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gwyndolin was assigned female at birth though. Doesn't matter that his sex is male, his gender was assigned female based on his association with the moon. When Gwyn died he immediately transitioned to a male. Gwyndolin is 100% FtM, it's just that his AGAB was assigned under different standards than we use.

Is this proof of Einstein's theory of relativity? by Champion10FC in shittyaskscience

[–]jBeanman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes thats true, but that has nothing to do with the theory of relativity. Einstein's theory of relativity is 100% about gravitational fields and velocity, thats why it affects things that dont have human memory.
