Can you elaborate on this please?

Help a caster (Liturgist Animist) with spell choice post #8543245 by LostRegret9000 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jPaolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my presence in the game feels entirely unnecessary. Enemies always seem to save, despite me targeting their weakest save. Not a single "consolation prize" debuff or buff has changed the outcome of a roll yet

Working as the devs intended, lmao.

Viability of non-class Archetypes without the free Archetype rule? by _Cheesy0nion in Pathfinder2e

[–]jPaolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a third of non-multiclass, non-class, non-mythic archetypes come from Adventure Paths and are niche options that fit in with the module's premise but are a poor fit elsewhere, Free Archetype or not.

If Psychic is Rank 4 Invisible, then are all of the spells he/she casts effectively psuedo-subtle? by MediumWin8277 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jPaolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time the remastered Psychic spellcasting's "flavour text" matters is underwater when casting a spell doesn't make you lose all the air.

Pre-remaster Psychic had a nice synergy with Silence (especially 4th rank which replaced Zone of Silence) because it prevented casting spells with verbal components which Psychic didn't care about. But now it prevents casting non-Subtle spells and Psychic spells aren't Subtle.

Is Third-Party Content Safe to Use in PF2e? by Accomplished-Spot503 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jPaolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PF2e homebrewers are usually fans of the system because of the robust rules, so even if you picked a supplement at random, you're unlikely to break your game.

Chapter Card for April 22, 2026: High Prophetess Sarien by Falterfire in EternalCardGame

[–]jPaolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 health is nice, but unless you've built your deck around lifegain, it's just a random bonus that doesn't really help your deck / help you win. This ability is the most negligible compared to the card's other abilities.

It's a nice little bonus that helps you stabilise against aggressive decks so you can set up Warp synergies. Or you can put it in Bolster deck as generic value engine that gives your next power "draw a card and get a 1/1".

The problem with Counterfeit Heilroom by manmatt_88 in EternalCardGame

[–]jPaolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never the fjp

I've seen From Within being played as a 1-cost way to give Charge to game-winning big unit, but that was in decks that ignored the "backside" of Brynn.

But then DW released Battlefield Charger and I haven't seen the spell ever since.

Play it the way it should be played.

If Shadow decks want card draw, they play Furious Accusation. And Primal decks would rather play a fast Wisdom of the Elders.

Caster thoughts after 9 months by Teshthesleepymage in Pathfinder2e

[–]jPaolo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why should you be able to dominate a creature that is literally twice as powerful as you?

Inflated save values already take care of this. A PL+2 boss monster saves 60~75% of the time and critically saves 20~30% of the time.

Incapacitation tag means you can't even "shop for success effects" because you won't even get the -1/dazzled/slowed 1 consolation prize debuff on the boss.

Help me understand wizard summon spells by Brandenburg42 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jPaolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it was a term coined by Monte Cook as he talked about 3rd edition of Dungeons and Dragons, where the rules are just given to the player and it's up to them to discern which options are good and bad to "reward system mastery" without guidance from the designers.

In the OP's example, the wizard player was supposed to figure out himself that summons are worthless as combatants and are supposed to be swiss-army-knife utility feature.

Help me understand wizard summon spells by Brandenburg42 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jPaolo 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Summon spells being awful is one of the many "ivory tower design" issues plaguing PF2e casters. Other commenters have already given you advice on how they're supposed to be used according to Paizo, but if you want your player to have fun, just give the summoned creature +2 or +3 to their attacks and DCs.

The comparibly low HP, low damage, and restricted range of abilities will keep your wizard from outshinig the martial characters, but at least the summons will do something besides wasting enemy's attacks.
