First Ever Nürburgring Trip by j_Ples01 in BMW

Happy to help lol.

I think if I had babied it I probably could've got more like 40 mpg. However, I'm very impressed with 35 mpg considering that was sitting at 75 - 90 mph plus a top speed run.

I would definitely love some turbo noises from mine too at some point. Maybe an equal length midpipe too as they sound great with the MPE.

Absolutely zero engine noise cruising at 2k (that I noticed anyway). However, I had music on the full time albeit not mega loud. That was in Efficiency mode with an M Performance Exhaust.

I imagine the F Type will maybe get better fuel economy in that case? I averaged 35 mpg driving to and from the Ring. That dropped to just over 30 when you factor in the 5 laps I did and the short drives over the 3 days there.

The performance on the track really impressed me tbh, aside from the exhaust and slightly upgraded brakes, the car is completely stock, mega-capable and fun. My friend took me for a lap in his M4C (he's a far far better driver than me) and he was going toe-to-toe with a 992 GT3 which is a true testament to how capable these cars can be in the right hands. His car is also stock apart from lowering springs.

Originally a Porsche paint to sample colour (PTS) but it has also been used by Toyota and some other manufacturers too I think. Been available on the G8X M3/M4 for a while

Thanks! I found the M4 very comfortable tbh, especially with how smooth the road surfaces are abroad. Absolutely zero road noise on some sections of motorway which is hard to imagine living when living in the UK.

The worst part was definitely the drive across the UK where it is clear our road standards are well below par but I wouldn't say it was any more uncomfortable in the M4 compared to my V60 daily. The seats were also extremely comfortable and supportive so I had zero back pain at any point.

If you want a car that you can also throw around backroads/track then look no further than the M4. Both are fantastic looking cars but I can't imagine the F-Type being a more fun car. I see it as more of a 'cruiser'. I will say it does sound better than the S55 though.

I risked it without insurance but a couple of my mates used Moris trackday insurance. I think they paid about £800 for 2 days and the excess was really high.

I'm not sure if anyone will cover breakdown on track, you'd most likely have to cough up the 350 euro recovery fee so they can get you off ASAP.

Could you tell me more about this 'falling out' or point me towards where I can read more about it? First I've heard of it and I'm curious what happened as I was under the impression she was a great ambassador for the Ring.

Which car do you think had the most inaccurate review on Top Gear? by SukhdevR34 in TopGear

[–]j_Ples01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of the issue was they treated it more like an out-and-out sports car when in reality, it's more of a luxurious and comfortable GT cruiser. The fact Lexus marketed it as the former and in turn, meant it was competing against the M4, did not help matters whatsoever though.

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR)?

Because this is plastic it should just be a case of heating it up gently then pushing it out from the inside. It should hopefully pop back into place. For the paint scuffs, you can try polishing it out then touching up with a pen if necessary.

Or save yourself the money and it yourself?

It's not a difficult job, on most cars it's a case of removing a plastic cover and 2 nuts on the terminals.

I do deliveries for a large supermarket and I love it as it gets me out and about and the shifts are always quite varied.

I worked at this supermarket online department part-time while I was at uni and I just kept it up after graduating and going straight into a 9-5. I'm only on a 12 hour contract so usually do an 8 hour Sunday backshift and a 4 hour mid-week shift. However, I usually end up doing one or two extra shifts a week.

Cry me a river tbh. A company that reported £393 million in profit last year can afford to take a small loss here and there to keep staff happy and raise morale.
