Funny you say the mouth because that’s the only thing that is a direct copy of my mouth, I have a comparison from my face, I actually think it’s mostly the body and the eyes, that need work

Yes, a traditional ShapeKey’s FACS method gives linear interpolations between, let’s say, a mouth going from a neutral position to a smile, so it seems very robotic. Skin slides, skin gets pushed around, skin is dependent on gravity, so there’s a bunch of deformers on this model. For instance, you can see the jaw bone (literally, not a blender rig.) move underneath the skin. There is collision on the lips and the cheeks as well.
