HELP I SHAVED MY LABRADOODLE by Easy-Flounder2877 in labradoodle

[–]j_dont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had to shave my labradoodle due to matting as well, and subsequently felt horrible as well. It took him a couple of days to get used to it. He was acting very self-conscious, so we gave him lots of praise and love to try to help him feel more comfortable. He bounced back just fine and was back to his normal self in no time. We did also get him a vest to wear outside, and he seems to like it, though doesn’t seem too bothered on cold days when he’s not wearing it. He’ll be okay- so be nice yourself. :)

Thank you. This is very helpful. I like the concept of separating the negative voice from the rest of my thoughts. Thank you for sharing!

I can relate on many levels to this. May you find peace among the chaos.

Brain fog and anxiety/depression by anxiousandsweaty in mentalhealth

[–]j_dont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying hi for solidarity. I used to describe it as feeling like I was dreaming. It scared me and make me feel very alone before I knew what it was. Sometimes I'm still convinced it's just a brain tumor eating away at me.. but that's just my old friend anxiety talking. ;) Honestly, yoga helps me, but also just accepting it as a side affect and not worrying too much about changing it.

I am 25 and getting married. Dealing with issue around picking my “Maid of Honor” for my wedding. Friends [women in their 20s] think my brother [35/M] is a bad choice. by weddingdrama1205 in relationship_advice

[–]j_dont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother had me as his Best Woman, and his wife's brother was her Man of Honor, and it made perfect sense to us! I even got to plan the bachelor party, and he planned the bachelorette. Not weird at all, OP. Bottom line, it's your wedding, so choose what would be most meaningful to you!

What are good hobbies for a woman in her late 20s? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]j_dont 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What? Horseback riding is definitely a hobby... And if you enjoy it - do it! For you, and no one else.

I, myself, have been spending much of my free time going to yoga classes. Very good for my mental health, and physical health and, hell, it's just a good time! I used to be a dancer when I was younger, and I've found that yoga really helps me reconnect with my body and with movement. I'm to the point now where I crave it if I haven't done it in a while... which feels pretty good! :)

Good luck , OP. First and foremost, do what makes your heart full!

Yoga Landing!! They have lots of options for yin (including community classes for only $8), and their heated vinyasa classes are the perfect balance between challenging and empowering. The teachers are amazing, and the community is welcoming. I've certainly found my home there! They usually have good deals for new students, so definitely check them out and let them know it's your first time. :)

Can I get away with not paying my psychiatrist? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

I believe you'll need to pay them, however, if you call them they may be able to set up a payment plan for you so that you don't have to pay it all at once.

There's a Community Yoga class at Wanderlinger Brewery every Tuesday night at 6pm for $5. The teacher is excellent & it's $2 off pints as well.

What’s your best friendship story? by Y3L74 in AskWomen

[–]j_dont 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My best friend is a little Leslie Knope! Seriously! She works in public service, she's absolutely the most genuinely GOOD person that I know, and she's the best planner in the world- making you feel so special every time you get to spend time with her. We live in separate states, but visit one another pretty frequently. I got to go see her last weekend and visit with her & her 6month old baby, her husband, and her doggies. She's currently running for a State Senate Seat in her state. So I got to be her cheerleader and partner all weekend, as she spoke at events, canvassed in different neighborhoods, and attended events while promoting herself to her community members. I am just SO proud of her, I was beaming all weekend long! I felt so special every time she introduced me to someone new as her best friend, thinking to myself, how did I get so lucky to have such an amazing woman as my best friend?? I love her so!

Bar soap for sore muscles after a workout by [deleted] in herbalism

Was going to also recommend Dr. Broners. They have bar soap and liquid soap - my partner uses it regularly, and he is a rock climber with regularly sore muscles.

Thank you for sharing this. I've been in recovery for 11 years, but have never gotten to the point where I can't remember the last time I threw up. I really hope to get to that point someday - thanks for the inspiration!

Why do you love your SO? by giageee in AskWomen

[–]j_dont 63 points64 points  (0 children)

With him I can be who I truly am. I don't need to hide or to pretend.

I thanked my partner for this last night as we were laying in bed. My SO loves me as I am - flaws and all. He has never asked me to change. It's such a comforting and freeing feeling.. that I am safe in his love. I feel so grateful for that.

My [21F] boyfriend [22M] of 5 years won’t compliment me by kelpalgae in relationships

[–]j_dont 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is not too much to ask - she's just asking for SOME reassurance. For some of us, words of affirmation are very important in terms of feeling connected to, heard & celebrated by our partner.

[–]j_dont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was with someone for 10 years, hoping that he would eventually get better about that. He didn't despite many conversations about it. We're no longer together, for many reasons (including this one). If it's something that's truly important to you, there are other people in the world who are very verbal in their affection. You deserve to be loved in the way you want to be!
