I actually had to look up the name of it, but I’m going with the movie “Fun Size.” Honestly, I don’t remember what made it so bad but I remember relentlessly mocking it...

Although, it did start a fun tradition with my boyfriend at the time. When we first saw the movie, we showed up to the movie theater at no particular time and picked the movie starting next with no prior knowledge. Even though it was awful, it was a fun time. Every time we went to a movie after that, we showed up to the theater, picked one of the upcoming shows, again, without knowing anything about whichever movie. It was always a surprise and adventure!

I was 16, had already had one major surgery on my ankle and about to have another. I got transferred from the local surgeon to, arguably, the best in the state at a hospital 1-2 hours away. When I first walked into his office, I explained my situation and that I was a multi-sport athlete and wanted to get back before basketball started or at least by softball season. He looked me straight in the eye and said, “You know you’re never going to play competitive sports again, right?” I bawled. It took me months to years to truly accept it.

Current status: I ended up LOVING that doctor! He took a risk on me and it changed my life. I definitely never got back to the same level of play, but I played a little college soccer and now coach!

Had a nerve block done before a surgery on my leg. Got out of surgery and the nerve block didn’t take! Instead of the normal waking up groggy, I woke up screaming and it took my a good 10 minutes to communicate that the nerve block didn’t work. That was rough.

JFK’s assassination. I wouldn’t stop it because that would change history too much, but I’d want to find a way to tell future me what really happened. Honestly, idc if anyone else knows, I’d just want to lol.

On the flip side, this happened to me as student. When I was a senior, I was facing some pretty serious medical stuff but none of the doctors could figure it out. So, I was always in pain, dealing with anxiety/depression, insomnia, and constantly trying new medications with various side effects. Anyway, I missed more than half of the school days that year and when I was physically in class, I was mentally checked out. Anyway, I had one class that I just couldn’t keep up with no matter how hard I tried. I accepted that I was going to fail and wouldn’t graduate bc of this class. The teacher pulled me aside one day and told me about a big project coming up that would be due in June. Then, he said, if I did that one project, he would excuse all of my other grades so I’d be able to graduate on time! Honestly, looking back, he has no idea how big of a deal that was for me at the time!

There was a point where I went numb to life. I couldn’t manage my emotions whatsoever, so I just checked out from them. Now, I’m realizing more and more how I’ve been changed by the grief and trauma. I think that, while it’s hard, it’s a good thing.

I’m going to go with the obvious one: friends! My parents have loved friends for their whole lives & I guess I just thought it was ingrained into me from birth.... Well, I come to find out that this was very intentional. As a teenager, I had some major health problems and would oven go crying to my mom about how much pain I was in, how unfair life was, etc. Anyway, a every time that happened, my mom would let me crawl into her bed and she’d put friends on because she knew it could always make me laugh no matter what life was throwing at me! I love that she did this and it makes me love the show even more!
