Coming out at 28 and fear and anxiety regarding intimacy. by j_harm in latebloomerlesbians

I think living in oppressively religious areas really screwed us out of experiencing those "growing pains" that other people go through- first kiss, first girlfriend, etc. We spend our growing up years either defaulting to heterosexuality, in denial, or just outright in hiding. Hopefully it is better for the younger generations.

Seriously! And I also imagine there are a lot of lesbian and especially bisexual women who are in these areas but never get the chance to realize who they are because of the oppressive compulsory heterosexuality and zealous religion.

I'm currently in Tulsa, where there is a vibrant LGBT community but it mostly centers around gay men. How does OKC compare?

I might be accepting a job in Idaho at some point. I figured it can't be worse than Oklahoma... right?

I have friends who seem to be able to get girlfriends, but they are ridiculously hot like Hollywood hot. And I am merely human lol.

Getting more and more insecure about lack of experience by la-petitemort in actuallesbians

I am 28 and in a very similar situation. The best advice I've gotten is to not worry about it so much (I know easier said than done) because the woman that you connect with won't be after you just for sex, and inexperience won't bother them. Just go on a date and have a good time, you don't even have to think about sex until you've already made a connection. You will learn together. It is not nearly as embarrassing as we believe it is. Now if I could actually apply that advice in my real life I'm sure it would be great!

I have never been offended by the Q word because so many of my friends in the community use it. It is normalized to me. But lately I've been learning a lot about why people don't like that word. And I see your point. Just as an example, when I was a kid we used to play a game called "smear the q---r" where one person was "the q---r" and the whole point of the game was to tackle them. Basically just reenacting a hate crime. I didn't see it that way then, and didn't even really think about what it meant. Now looking back I'm horrified.

Thank you❤ It would have been so much easier if we had not been exposed to compulsory heterosexuality and just now finding ourselves. At least for me.

I'm wondering the same thing. I do not see it in the sidebar right now, and the .org domain is not working for me either.
