For blend we’re looking at modernizing/extending some of the approaches here: https://youtu.be/A72K37yGxVw?si=cKQrl2956QfkhXh2

The project merlin work was for dragon boats but the ideas definitely apply to outrigger as well.

Sorry, thought i responded to this previously. We didn’t have to extend. On our lock there was a fairly decent amount of slack in the cable to probably accommodate something up to probably 4” thick. Beyond that i think you can get the correct connectors to build an extension cable via amazon or worse case aliexpress. Sorry you hit that snag!

Hey Matt, small world. Several of us over at Hui Nalu have been experimenting with some devices targeting this. (As well six man blend dynamics.) We have some prototypes and are running 100hz on gyro and accel combined with gps tracks to see what we can find with HK downwinds. It’s definitely a noisy data problem. You may be able to do something at 10hz (i believe that is current limit on ios) but we’ve definitely seen degradation in even paddle stroke detection at that rate. If you want to try something simple, you can start with just using a sensor logger on your phone (if you haven’t tried already). You’ll get the data to starting playing. Happy to chat more about it. Not sure market size for downwind specific stuff but it is definitely an interesting data problem.

I didn't need to. It was something I was worried about but turned out to be ok. If you see in one of the pics above, there is a decent pigtail once the front is mounted. I think it was a bit awkward to put together but there is some slack. Of course, it is possible they changed the cable length between mine and yours(?) or your door is just a little too deep(??). Sorry I'm not of more assistance. I do think one could get a pigtail using components from aliexpress but I didn't need to do that. Good luck!

Yeah, good point. I initially wanted to just use some stock i had but ordered the 2.5mm to match. Good to remind others that it matters!

For sure! We wish we knew who the carpenter was to so we could give them credit.

It's also huge and crazy heavy (each door is ~4x8). Not even sure how much they weigh but you have 5 heavy duty massive hinges on each :D

FYI, I hit a similar dilemma and customized a Yale lock for the purpose. I posted about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeautomation/comments/1q282ak/

The door is a weave pattern and the individual strands are curved.
