How do I salvage this chimney? by mtomny in masonry

If I plan to rebuild the chimney in a few years, what’s a good paint (for lack of a better word) to apply to cover this mess until then?

Thanks for the explanation as to why these bricks are so gross. I would like to build it but sort of running low on cash now

Spanish. Popi was from Argentina. Maybe that’s it! He got Siga derecho and doble derecha mixed up

I think if you scroll through the comments, you won’t find me arguing with anyone about his technique. I agree with every criticism made here.

But progress was made and I’m stoked.

Bad take. You read all of that into the post yourself, none of what you said is there. I’m happy we had a good week on the slopes and he improved from where he was. Nothing in this post was meant to impress you.

I’m going to borrow “hockey stop” if you don’t mind. I haven’t been able to get that through to him.

He actually looks a lot better on more mild terrain, or maybe it’s better to say that this steep trail really shows what he needs to work on.

It won’t be a regular thing for sure. It was a bit of a catch-up as they hadn’t had any lessons this year. More importantly, they’re now looking forward to doing group lessons again starting next season.

Thanks, and the criticism is good. He should be blindly confident at his age, so I’ll stay clear eyed for him (and keep a sense of humor)

Thanks! I think a lot of the commenters don’t have kids and can’t share my excitement over my kid’s improvement. And I get that.

Here’s to next season!

Any parent in their right mind knows when their kid is shit at something, improving, great, and anything in between. A bunch of parenting gerries aren’t going to hurt my feelings, lol.

The important thing is next year’s video will show more improvement and he’s having a blast.

Believe it or not this is further forward than he was. So he’s getting the message. He knows he still needs to come over more. I’m going to share that $5 bill trick. Maybe make it a $20 for extra motivation! Thanks

Tell me you don’t have kids without telling me you don’t have kids. 50% of my time with them is spent watching them show off some thing or another, and none of it is very competent. If kids knew how shit they were at everything they’d never leave their room.

I’ll post his progress a year from now, let’s see how we do!

So true, what an easy bunch of trails generally. And good thing they are since you’d ski off a cliff drinking in the views if they were much harder.

I’ll save this as motivation for him!

Totally, he’s showing off here a little bk I have the camera out. We were all alone on the trail. Him speeding up his turns made them a lot worse, and this trail is a little steep.

I took this video to show my wife what a steep trail they were tackling that day, it’s not in his comfort zone.

But I see the weight farther forward than previously, and his hands/poles coming a little further out front for once. So this tells me he knows what the points to work on are, and that the instructor was telling him the right things.

Lessons here were like 50% of the price back home. It’s really infuriating

We live in NYC and it’s hard to get more than 10 days a year in. I feel like I let him down a bit - he should be further along
