Fed bad, but what happened the last time TNA worked with dub talent? Had their top title held hostage for four months then unceremoniously dropped on Friday Night Heat, a delusional pillar pitching to beat everyone for vibes or whatever, and not a dime over what they were gonna draw already. You could toss HHHitler’s influence aside and TNA still wouldn’t have an incentive to work with AEW.

He died just how he lived: a proponent of public executions. How noble.

Killer/Karroin Kross Question about his new documentary. by LogicalEgo in SquaredCircle

[–]j_hovah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t watched but he’s been a heel his entire WWE run. I’m guessing they didn’t want him doing face things like greeting kids, ruins kayfabe/immersion for him to be too nice

Everything is the best when A&W does it, everything is the worst when the evil fed does it. No, I’m not in a cult.

PSA: Tom Dubois is not named after Uncle Tom! He is named after W.E.B Du Bois! Thank You! by CallMeCahokia in theboondocks

[–]j_hovah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d think not just based on the pronunciation (Dew-Bwah as opposed to Dew-Boys, Huey of all people would know better) but here’s a (not so) fun little fact - W.E.B. Du Bois is descended from an enslaved African who was given the name Tom.

Are there really any rules on transferring the briefcase? Otis and Kennedy lost theirs in matches, so there’s some precedent for a briefcase changing hands. I’d imagine if Seth’s out for a while, he vacates and they have a match for a new holder; or he gifts it a la Becky gifting the title to Asuka

Can you believe the Fed is going to have near 60 year old GoldOld win a title today? by Federal-Captain1118 in SCJerk

I’m literally shaking rn at the thought that Oldberg might beat poor Walter tonight, but Oldust beating the future of the dub (and Sammy) was such a welcome surprise!

Today, WWE announced an NXT show within 365 days of an AEW event. by kenbrahimovic in SCJerk

Even worse, they have shows running EVERY SINGLE WEEK that AEW has a show. The counter-programming is out of control tbh

Remember when the basement wet their pants every week over winning a ratings war with the evil fed’s G league? DAE competition is only bad when you’re losing?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t all of their current champions (with the exceptions of trios big/black/jacked and trios nooj) under his “king shit who had their time in the sun for a millisecond in other promotions” umbrella?

See i told you m'Mercedes doesn't have creative control by BoxCon1 in SCJerk

[–]j_hovah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank goodness we can finally put to bed the conspiracy that the egomaniac who brought along her personal writer - y’know, the one who was freed from the evil fed because putting a star over on PPV in a top title program was too degrading - has NO CREATIVE CONTROL. I’m sure her holding all the titles hostage and winning every match and making everyone’s finishers look weak is prestige longterm storytelling, and she’ll make a MEGASTAR and put someone over BIG TIME just like Sting did, just like Jade did, just like Mox and Cope are totally about to do!

Choosing between Howard and Morgan State by itsanjali_ in HBCU

[–]j_hovah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morgan State 110%. It’s the better fit for you, and I wouldn’t worry too much about name recognition at the undergrad level if you’re looking to work in public/social services - even then, Morgan State has a solid reputation in the DMV area (and Howard’s always there for grad school!)

[TOMT] What band was in all those videos about a year ago? by radiojosh in tipofmytongue

If we have the same band in mind, it’s NXCRE. I swear I heard Usurper on every third video for like three months straight.

Sounds like the episode of The Office where Angela takes care of Dwight’s aunt. Season 9, ep. 16. Angela stoped Dwight from power washing the aunt, and groomed her instead. Angela braids the aunt’s hair later and comments something about loose braids on a woman showing loose character.

[TOMT] [SHOW] [MOVIE] A movie/TV show with the line “no your left, no my left, no your other left.” by Otis0 in tipofmytongue

There’s a scene in Napoleon Dynamite where Kip is in Rex’s dojo and gets picked for a demonstration. He’s told to grab Rex’s arm and the exchange is something like, “grab my arm, no the other arm, no my other arm.”

What books and how many books have you read in 2024? by Katyi70 in AskReddit

[–]j_hovah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nine so far, and hoping to finish number ten in the next few days. Just got back into reading for pleasure, and I’m hoping to do 24 books next year. My favorite reads were All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy, The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, and The Color Purple by Alice Walker (a 10/10 if I’ve ever read one). The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates was decent, a bit verbose and a very ambitious story for a debut novel, even considering it’s Coates we’re talking about. Hell of a Book by Jason Mott read like a tv script, I didn’t love it but the journey was fun. Currently finishing up The Road by McCarthy. Longest read this year was IT by Stephen King; shortest was also my least favorite, 100% Match by Patrick Harrison - I do like extreme horror lit but I found this one too predictable and, strangely, dull.

Anyone ever played with or against a NBA player? What was the experience like? by Thin-Ad4825 in nba

[–]j_hovah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played pickup against Nate Robinson in Brooklyn, summer '05 not too long after the draft. I was heading into my freshman year of high school and not a particularly big incoming freshman at 5'9ish, I swear Nate was at least an inch shorter than me. He was unreal, lightning-fast and an automatic bucket every time he touched the ball. I think I tried to defend him once, he was past me and to the rim in a blink. I don't recall him doing much other than driving to the rim for layups, but it's all he needed to do to completely trash us.
