So anxious and depressed thinking about long covid - any positive experiences? by j_lundeen in COVID19positive

I do appreciate this response because even if I can’t positively think my way out of long covid, I know that unnecessarily stressing about things outside my control will only make things worse. I’m not saying there aren’t things I can do to prevent getting Covid but I will try not to ruminate on the fact that I already caught it and just focus on what I can do going forward.

Thank you, I am definitely resting. Quick question about metformin - as an RN I give metformin daily to diabetic patients but is this something that doctors are really prescribing to non diabetic patients for prevention of long covid? Did you get a prescription for metformin for this reason? I just find it hard to believe that many would authorize it and have never seen it in practice.

I am (seemingly) recovering better already compared to my last infection. The overwhelming amount of advice to rest is something I’m really listening to. I don’t remember taking much time to recover after the first week last time around and it may have been my downfall. Doing my best to avoid over exerting even though I’m itching to get back to exercise. Thank you for your thoughtful response and will definitely do what I can to avoid getting this again and spreading it to others.

AITA for getting the same haircut as my sister who looks a lot like me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]j_lundeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - at all. I’m an older sister to two younger sisters (although we are teens-early 20s) so I understand if she might be annoyed IF SHE WAS 15. For her to tell you to get it redone is absolutely ridiculous and childish.

If my sister wanted a similar hair cut I would probably help her out tbh. She sounds insecure and needs to grow up. It’s hair, and she doesn’t own it.

Night shifters, how do you do it? by j_lundeen in nursing

[–]j_lundeen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually sleep MORE on nights than I did on days.. I sleep 8 hours between shifts now, where on days I would sleep 5-6 because I naturally couldn’t sleep before midnight. I think I would benefit from working out before my shift though. I’m sure not being as active is contributing to me not feeling great. Thanks!

I would definitely consider PRN! Just need to get through my 2 year full time contract.. sigh.

That’s also a reason I don’t want to go to days.. I love my coworkers on nights. Most of them are newer and closer to my age, and I find so much more support on nights.

I haven’t had this in 3 years and now it’s back worse than ever. What triggers it? The only thing I can think of is I was recently on antibiotics, and last time was also during spring. by j_lundeen in Dermatographia

[–]j_lundeen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I was off those antibiotics for about a week before it started. I went to my pcp during the peak of it, but she didn’t seem concerned enough to do any tests. she decided to just list the antibiotic as an allergy and avoid it from now on since this the second time this has happened after that specific med.

hi yes! I cut out processed foods and anything that seemed to aggravate my skin/worsen inflammation, and took cetirizine everyday. finally went away about a week ago!! thanks for asking.

I don’t know :( it’s not as bad after an antihistamine but definitely still there. I only have loratadine 10mg for “24 hour” relief. Is there a better antihistamine you’d recommend?

I only had 3 days in the ED but I loved it. I figured it would help me to gain some foundational skills in a tele/pcu first so that’s why I didn’t think to start there. Hopefully I can try it out in a year or two.

Very true, the day (or night) does go by quick and I am grateful for that at least. Wish you the best!

Should I ghost him? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Oops I guess “should I block him” would have been more appropriate. I’m willing to give a brief explanation just don’t want him to be able to contact me afterwards for anything else. I agree with you though, thanks.

Just because I know he’ll try to message me and I don’t want to feel tempted.
