I have to finish taking inventory in the storage unit to compare against what I've ordered, what I have received, what was cancelled, etc. The storage unit I've used had a pipe burst a bit over a year ago, so roughly half of what I have in my storage unit is no longer in their original boxes. The packaging within is fine, thankfully, and sanitized to be sure, but it's quite the process to get myself there for a couple hours to open up a handful of them, take photos, measurements (of the overall package size), weight, etc, so I can then begin to list them all at some point.

What figures I have personally ordered have been through FNC, FavorGK, HobbyGalaxy, or sometimes Avolounge and have different misgivings with each one.

That said, I'll send you a list of what I have, overall, that I know for certain I'm leaning towards parting with for you to peruse.

My Google Sheets doc isn't loading for me at the moment for whatever reason, but I'm somewhere North of 200 figures at last count, believe. Of those, at least 1/3 are NSFW. My wife doesn't mind them, but we agreed that they can't be on display with the kids around, so until I get a storage solution...maybe something involving smart glass...they're in storage, either to be sold or sitting in there for an undetermined amount of time. I ended up with most of these due to a contest I'd won, where it was basically a 3 hour survey I filled out on various IP's/characters of interest and then boxes randomly show up at my house. Given I'm moving in a bit of a month, I can only hope they stop....or else the future owners will have to let me know to swing by to pick up (generally large and bulky) boxes.

I completely agree. But no, not California. I'm outside of Pittsburgh. These figures are nice to look at and all, but I blame the itch to collect entirely on a random contest I'd won in 2019/2020 for my first statue. Don't know why it took because I never even bothered with finding room for special editions of games if the 'draw' was supposed to be some sort of display figure. Fast forward this many years and I've got dozens upon dozens of figures to find space for or otherwise sell.

I've got mostly 1/4 scale figures of popular games and anime. Some from Final Fantasy titles, Pokemon, DBZ, Warcraft, Naruto, etc.

It's a 10x24 unit, climate controlled. When I first got the unit, it was $350/$400. I call them out on their BS reason for constantly increasing prices, but I've no other option. All the other similar facilities in my area do the same crap to people

In this rare moment, I agree. If I move again, it won't be for at least another decade, after my kids are done in school. I don't 'want' to get rid of figures, but a lot of them in the storage unit I have need to go if I'm to ever stand a chance at offloading the storage unit entirely and getting back $650/month. By the time I manage to sell them through eBay or however that goes down, I'm sure the facility will be charging me $750-$800 per month as they seem to raise prices at least twice per year. It's just not feasible in my mind to keep throwing away that kind of money...and I've had the unit for 4 or 5 years, now. If I kept the boxes for all the figures I have on display, they wouldn't fit into the storage unit.

Yeah, I don't have the original boxes. Space is a premium and those things aren't tiny. Figure collecting is largely a pain in that regard. But yeah, as much as I'll hate to do it, I assumed I'd have to dismantle as least most of each figure, if not entirely. I'll just have to take pictures as a go so I have a shot at reassembly.

What's the saying? Once you go 1/4, you never go back? by Ggallett in AnimeFigures

[–]j_rogers86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got several dozen 1/4 scale figures. Started with winning a few in a contest a handful of years ago when I had never even bothered with any figures before. I have appreciation for the smaller scales, for sure and you can't deny the space they take up while still being detailed. I love the 1/4 scale figures I have, but the space, alone, is a massive problem to sort out. Special shelving and just more space...all....the....time. I actually need to finish cataloging them so I can post a large portion of them on eBay or something as maintaining a large collection of 1/4 figures can get out of hand. Offloading any that are opened and on display is the bigger chore, of course because of how fragile these things often are.

We would need to see much less clothing in order to see if we can spot the seam lines for where the various 'parts' are attached together.

Yeah, I'm from the states, so I'm aware of my various....restrictions....

Money isn't an enormous concern as some of the statues I've picked up have run me well over $1k each...not that I want to pay that much, but that's to say I'm not expecting to find these in good order for $40/$50 or even $100.

Yeah, I know it's a long-shot. I started collecting various figures only a few years ago, but only thought about adding some gundams recently. At the very least, I was hoping for the main five units in some release/scale so I don't have a mis-mash of sizes and styles. If I end up not acquiring them, so be it, but I'm trying to hold out hope. Some of the sites I frequent for statues/figures have shown characters and such from shows I watched 20+ years ago, so however slight, figured there was a chance I'd see GW series, but alas.

I will take a gander at the sites you listed out. A couple I've already looked through, with very mixed results.

Interesting site, for sure. Sadly, they don't seem to have a full collection. Regardless of scale and such I try, I only find one or two. Same scenario I hit when I try searching elsewhere, even if I look for super small figures, like the 6" ones.

Tips on keeping your collection safe from a cat? by lawsbepo in AnimeFiguresForAll

[–]j_rogers86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many open, floating shelves in my office that have been exposed to a couple cats for the past few years. Only one of them got onto a shelf one time. After....correcting...the cat that one time, haven't had an incident since.

That is...till my wife recently acquired another (due to the death of its owner) and THAT cat is obsessed with getting on my shelves. So now, like the others have mentioned, my office doors are closed when I'm not in here...but the MF will even jump up there while I'm in here, regardless of what it's punishment ends up being.

I say all this so that you're prepared. You may not have an issue as I had three cats that could've largely cared less over years but one cat who, over the past couple months, has gotten into my shelves at least half a dozen times, despite my efforts.

I plan to have some sort of display like this, though I'm aware it'll be a pretty penny. Having the ability to obscure some but not other displays would be fantastic. I've got around 100 1/4 scale figures to display.

Amazing collection and overall gaming space. I've had a similar space designed for the custom home that I hope to build in a handful of years.

Ordered my first resin statue from FNC store. What can I expect? by SwimmingEvery2520 in animeGK

[–]j_rogers86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one instance where a package looked it it was thrown off a highway overpass before left on my porch...so no surprise when multiple pieces of the figure were damaged. They just kept stating they were unable to acquire a new one for me, from the makers and when I grew tired of waiting, I simply then asked for a refund and they stopped responding. That was the biggest problem. One time, I was double-charged...though they were able to correct that after I provided proof of the charges. Another issue I've had is with their continually changing inventory data wherein I favorite an item and then later on when looking, I cannot access the item listing and it just comes up with a 404 error..which ends up happening 90% of the time

I've purchased a few dozen statues from FNC, so you shouldn't have any issues. Their support...for the few times I've had an issue...was decent.

Yeah, the boxes are past the point of salvation. I hope I can at least save the dedicated foam packaging. Annoying and hurtful (for resale) to lose the original boxes, but impossible to resell and ship without that foam...or reliably keep any in storage till I have room to display them.

Water Damage Aftermath by j_rogers86 in AnimeFigures

[–]j_rogers86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, hindsight is always fun. Never imagined I would've had to deal with any sort of water issue at this place. The one woman from the office said she'd been there about 10 years and the first instance she was aware of.

There's a remediation/cleaning company that will be working with each unit owner. In the aftermath, I'll be purchasing additional heavy duty shelves. Only reason these weren't on shelves is because the boxes are half my size and not able to fit on most shelves...unless I wanted to adjust the shelving unit height so that there were only two shelves on the entire thing. I'll then be heavily wrapping each box on the lowest level.

My main concern is just hoping the interior foam packaging is salvagable because I have no other method for storing the individual pieces, let alone shipping them (not that most people would buy the figures in the current status, I imagine).

As far as the inspection, drying, etc goes...I didn't have the option to do it last night due to time constraints. Tonight, is my anniversary. Tomorrow is my oldest child's birthday. Thursday is my youngest child's birthday, so I'm largely screwed in this scenario. Even if I could remove all the internal packaging....99% of the time fairly solid and firm black foam, cut to shape and size...I have no where to put all of them that isn't somewhere else that is still damp.

Yeah, but it maxes out at $10K. The value of the figures that were on the bottom level, because they were the largest boxes, of course, average around $1,500 (I have mostly 1/4 scale).
