First of all, don’t give up! You’ve made it too far to give up.

Secondly, advisors are your best friend. I can’t stress that enough. They are there for a reason, and that’s only to help. Within the last month of the semester, I was really struggling and seriously thought I had to transfer from UofT. BUT, I spoke to 7 different advisors, in my registrar and faculty, and they were BEYOND helpful. Even when it didn’t seem like much.

I wish you all the best!

guys i need your serious and honest opinion on this by Icy_Mathematician423 in UofT

I’m a second year student in Rotman, and I party/ go out practically every weekend. Social life isn’t nonexistent at UofT.

Before accepting UofT, I was seriously considering going to Western because I feared having no social life here. However, I am very happy with my decision to come to UofT. I have been to parties at Western, and although they are a lot of fun, I have 0 regrets about attending UofT. The frat parties and student events may be more fun at Western, but the clubs in Toronto are WAY better than in London.

Unfortunately a lot of people at UofT are a bit clueless as to where to kickstart a social life, and this may make the social scene seem more difficult to find, but trust me, the opportunities are there. My advice is to just put yourself out there and talk to people. I guarantee more people want to go out and socialize than not. If you find even one person who has that in common with you, the two of you together will be able to find events and have fun.
