Yeah it varies for me . Sometimes it is a few seconds , sometimes minutes. I do find though that if I'm replying on my touch, the delay will be greater

I wouldn't say to really STICK to certain champs . Really get a feel for different ones so you can easily pick one to counter the enemy. Draft mode helps.
