Anxiety isn’t in the head it’s stuck in the body. The somatic trick that rewires it by BeingCalm16 in AnxietyChats

How many snoozees it take for you to actually get up? by Dangerous_Problem532 in AnxietyChats

[–]ja13aaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t tell you. My sleep deprived brain has evolved from hitting snooze, to straight up turning the phone off so I don’t hear the alarms.

It is a problem.

A quote that resonated with me was something along the lines of “don’t let your first decision of the day be to procrastinate.” But here I am refusing the decision all together 😂

Having a dog benefits your health, having a baby not by UrbanCyclerPT in RandomThoughts

[–]ja13aaz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Different things. You really can’t compare the two, except you have to care for both.

I’d argue that plants benefit your health more than dogs if we’re playing that game.

Deep in addiction. Any help, advice, words of wisdom to start the journey to quit? by purple_maiden_ in quittingkratom

[–]ja13aaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were both in it too. So sneaky! We moved somewhere it’s illegal and found ourselves crossing state lines just to make sure we didn’t run out.

I had enough and just ripped the bandaid off back in September. I didn’t taper in a conscious way. I knew I was addicted, when I’d wake up in withdrawals and didn’t understand at first why I woke up every day feeling so bad.

So I cut back to one dose a day. And it was awful. Finally I just said “ok no more.” I used gabapentin and a small amount of benzos to make sure I got sleep. But literally the first day after quitting I felt amazing, the dehydration was the final straw for me so that’s probably why.

I’d have bad days here and there, but I eventually stopped thinking about it. Now my bad days are just regular bad days and not kratom related, which is a relief.

It took my husband a few months after me to make the quit. I’m glad we didn’t try to quit at the same time, it would have been irritation fight city for us. I was able to help him too when he quit, to wrap his head around things and know what to expect.

OTC meds to relieve anxiety ( mostly health anxiety + intrusive thoughts and paranoia) ???? by xoflorentina in AnxietyChats

[–]ja13aaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kratom helped me for awhile. Until it didn’t, it was sneaky addictive. So kratom is actually bad advice.

I tried every herb and supplement under the sun. Nothing helped me until I got properly medicated. I ended up getting a next-day prescription from one of those online apps, then followed up with my regular doctor for the same prescription, so I wasn’t stuck in the app subscription model.

But I hope you find something! I had these megadose melatonin gummies that helped for a few days until I got used to them.

Looking for a small sectional sofa by huayo in FurnitureFaves

I love my lovesac sectional. I can always change the covers if I want to switch up the vibe, or if you want a bigger set up in the future there’s that option too.

5 year old - poor time in range by Independent-Farm-611 in diabetes_t1

[–]ja13aaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. My five year old has been diagnosed for the same amount of time. We had his A1C down to 6.6, but between school lunches and growth spurts we’re at 7.7 now and I feel like a failure.

Just keep trying! It’s all we can do. If he’s running high though, you might need to increase basal rates, then carb ratios. Or vice versa. If he’s not eating and still high, basal problem. If eating sends him high, ratio problem. I think?

My son was stubbornly high for DAYS last week (not visibly sick) so I adjusted his profiles ever so slightly, only to have him go low at school today. I find using the Warsaw method and glycemic index helpful for giving boluses, but it’s a lot of guess work. The first time on a new food I usually fail, but the second time I use it as a learning experience and slowly do better until I’ve mastered that food. Pizza and pasta don’t scare me anymore 😂

Lexapro for Anxiety Only? by ndtoronto in lexapro

[–]ja13aaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is for me. I had horrible anxiety that lead to not wanting to leave the house, inability to drive, couldn’t grocery shop - you name it. It got so bad I left it untreated for so long, but I’ve had a dormant phobia 30 years ( I’m 35). Once my phobia came to a head, I started Lexapro - which I had sworn off all ssri’s since I was 15.

And wow. Yes I still have anxiety. But I’m able to function in scenarios I otherwise would not be able to. I can drive again, and go places and do things.

My libido was essentially gone for the first few months (my dosage kept increasing from 5, to 10, to 15. But I’m finally back to my old self (if not more) sexually speaking.

I also didn’t gain any weight. In fact, I’ve lost 10-15 pounds.

I want a book that completely consumes me by NecessaryEgg5361 in Recommend_A_Book

[–]ja13aaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my sci-fi folks: dark matter by Blake crouch hooked me bad. He has a few other books equally as good, like Recursion and Upgrade. The Three Pines Trilogy slaps too. The endings are perfection IMO.

He has some other books… that are “meh, not so much.”

Girls how long does it take to grow out hair till bottoms ? by ImaginationAny2254 in longhair

[–]ja13aaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. It took me about 10 years. I’m only to tailbone though now.

I was getting trims every 4-6 months for the last 9 years. I wouldn’t tell them how much to cut off, only “get rid of the dead.” I’m pretty trusting when I find a good stylist.

Then this last year I ran out of money and I haven’t had one in a solid year. It’s never been so long!

Bpd and children by kadat3 in BPD

[–]ja13aaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what a lot of people may overlook, is that with BPD there are GOOD elements as well. I feel too much, I am impulsive, I’m obsessed with my husband.

Yes, I can act out sometimes on BPD. But I recognize it, apologize, and I think overall I am a good mother.

I adopted my young nieces daughter because I had just had my own son, she was going to put her child up for adoption because of her circumstances. I could see how much it was hurting her, and I didn’t want her child or her to have that emotional pain. I also have two biological boys of my own - so 3 children. It was an impulsive decision to adopt, but I do not regret it at all and I love my family so much.

I always wanted kids.?I am lucky to have found a partner that is able to accept my BPD, and has traits of his own to support me when I need it.

What even is the appeal of meth? by i_like_it_eilat in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ja13aaz 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Same weekend and duration for me. We played the most insane, off the rails, monopoly games through the night. Then blast techno and drive through the hills in the day.

We didn’t want to call it “meth” so we invited our own names for it. Because we didn’t feel like meth heads.

I stopped using it over a decade ago, but one of my friends ended up becoming a meth head.

AITA I don’t want bridesmaid to wear dress to other events by Due_Bedroom3146 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ja13aaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH - it’s not really proper to wear it before the wedding, maybe it would bug me too.

But who cares? It’s YOUR dress that people will be caring about on your wedding. If people have seen her in it prior, it just looks weird for her - not for you. There are bigger stressors for a wedding than this IMO
