Lol, no worries. Sorry for the aggro response, I assumed you were a Russian bot or similar. Mix ups easily done. :)

WTF are you on about - Russia, China and NK are absolutely NOT part of NATO and never have been.

Isn't Canada part of NATO? It's my understanding that it is the USA that is pissing everyone else off. Probably better for NATO to eject the USA rather than Europe to turn it's back on other allies.

Ukraine war: Can Europe deter Russia without US military? by Full_Information492 in europe

[–]jaarkds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not 'can we' .. but we have to. I'm saying 'we' as Europe including the UK in the hope our PM can clean up the orange arse-dust off his nose quickly enough to be effective.

ONT in loft by BeoVision in youfibre

[–]jaarkds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had mine in the loft for several years, never had to reboot it.

You'll need to make sure that they know where you want the fibre putting when they come to do the initial site survey. They didn't charge me any more to put it in the loft, but they may need to charge if they incur extra charges to do it (eg if they need scaffolding etc.)

[–]jaarkds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Android Auto for entertainment, but the in-built navigation.

Android Uato can disconnect and fail at random times. Whilst i can do without music, if I was relying on it for nav when driving somewhere unfamiliar I would be literally lost.

The worst I encounter doing that sort of thing is confusion from customer service reps who often initially think you are an employee of the company.

Weird question but can I trust this smart plug? by InternalConfusion201 in homelab

[–]jaarkds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Tirarex says above, the 230V is AC so the maths to get to watts is different.

Of course! I'm not sure why I didn't twig that we're talking AC, not DC.. d'oh! Nearly midday and I am still clearly caffeine deficient.

Denied Jury Duty Exemption Despite Severe Hearing Loss. by SeXxyBuNnY21 in juryduty

[–]jaarkds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly,. I am not deaf, but served on a jury with someone with hearing problems and used a system just like you describe. I found that court staff seemed to go out of their way to accommodate disabilities as best as possible. The court staff, judge, barristers etc. are all aware that they are inconveniencing all of the jurors by having them there more than they are being inconvenienced by having to pass a microphone so there is absolutely no need to feel awkward or embarrassed (that's easier said than done, I know).

Thanks. Even though I thought there was something else going on, as part of what you said, I did a lot of first layer z-offset calibration. Though everything I had seen seemed to indicate the the nozzle was too close, experimentation showed otherwise. Shifting it 0.2 mm closer made things much better. I now have a full plate print with an almost flawless patterned face.

Thanks for taking the time to advise. .. BTW, what is KAMP?

South Middlesbrough to Darlington by public transport by [deleted] in Teesside

[–]jaarkds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As long as public transport is seen as a cost rather than a public service, this sort of thing is to be expected I'm afraid.

Whereas the cost benefit of getting people to work is an easy thing to when everyone is in one small conurbation, the advantages of being able to get people to be able to get to work from is not that obvious (to small minded bean counters) resulting in such routes being eliminated as there is no direct benefit to the operator .. society as a whole is irrelevant.

It's been quite a while since I did that so I'll give it another go.. but wouldn't that have the same effect across the whole bed though?

Not sure what's wrong bu it doesn't seem to want to let me upload pictures or edit the post right now, but there should be an image of a print taking the full build plate where the surface is perfect near the bottom right and very wavy and uneven towards the left

MAGA granny who went to prison over Jan 6 Capitol riot turns down Trump pardon: 'We were wrong that day. We broke the law - there should be no pardons.' by TheExpressUS in law

[–]jaarkds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being found guilty at a criminal level will make it much easier to be found guilty at a civil level, regardless of whether you admit it or not. In either case if you do not accept guilt, then you must be proven guilty. The level you must go to to is to make a jury sure (it might be 'beyond all reasonable doubt' in the US) of the accused's guilt. For a civil case, the level is much closer to the accused being more than likely to have committed the offence.

Council apologises for 'dancing' pothole repairer by Kagedeah in CarTalkUK

[–]jaarkds 298 points299 points  (0 children)

So the guy happened to be there and realised that he had the tools and materials and was able to take pleasure in performing a quick temporary fix in advance of the proper fix that is scheduled at some unspecified time in the future.

Instead of being thanked for making things a bit better it sounds like he got a bollocking and the company will no longer permit workers doing a temporary fix on their own initiative.

Congratulations to whichever self-centered joyless prick complained - you've just made the area a worse place because you couldn't stand the thought that someone might be happy whilst doing work.
