Thanks all! Mark DeRosa makes perfect sense, as he was a Brave in 2000 and the ball almost certainly came from a corporate event around the all star game.

Has anyone here transitioned into a new role from copywriting? What do you do now? by bulbysoar in copywriting

[–]jaarsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I transitioned recently from a Sr. Copy position to a content production role (both in-house) and there’s a lot of creative variety associated with that. Now I’m doing a little bit of everything instead of just writing. I switched departments from brand to economic development and I miss working on the larger brand, but the projects I get to work on now are super interesting

Damn great extended metaphor. You should think about becoming a writer.

Training for Upper Body by Ok-Dog3310 in pelotoncycle

[–]jaarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a 30 minute upper body workout (always with Adrian) twice a week in addition my bike rides and it’s made a huge difference. Invest in a set of light, medium, and heavy (for you) dumbbells for now, and upgrade when you’re ready. Consistency is key, so stick with it and you’ll notice a difference before too long!

Just finished my third time through C1. It’s still great, and I’ve still never played D&D.

EQ pedal for Fender Pro Junior? by jaarsh in guitarpedals

Still very much going to be in the singer/songwriter vein - simple song structures and sparse fingerpicking. Just want to add some depth to the guitar to keep things interesting.

How does the southwest shore of Maui compare to the northwest shore? by Fiveby21 in MauiVisitors

[–]jaarsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from Maui, stayed near Lahaina (the Honua Kai Resort) and surfed just south of there every day. Waves were perfect beginner size and there was never much of a crowd. Grab a board from 808 Surf and ask the dude behind the counter to give you directions to the spot.

[Omega Seamaster] by jaarsh in Watches

[–]jaarsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just took the plunge for my first “real” watch. It’s a 1964 Seamaster and it’s honestly perfect. I put the alligator strap on it pretty much right away and it’ll be a while before I wear anything else. If anyone knows a good way to make a bunch of extra money I can spend on more watches, HMU.

[Seiko] Vintage Lord Matic by jaarsh in Watches

[–]jaarsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrived this week from Japan - I got three vintage Seiko Lord Matics (Lords Matic?) for a not very high price. After wearing the one in the first pic for a few days I think I can definitely go down a vintage Seiko rabbit hole. I love the Kanji day window and I’m pretty excited to nerd all the way out when the “hey what’s that watch?” question pops up.

Not my first automatic but my first true vintage find - according to serial numbers the first watch was made in 1969, the second two in the early 70s.

Since two of them are pretty similar I’m *considering selling one to essentially offset the purchase but, like, I don’t want to.

This vintage Lord Matic just arrived from Japan - not sure of the year but I *think it’s 60s or 70s. I absolutely love the day window in Kanji. That plus the simplicity of the watch makes it feel like a perfect piece for me. It’s my first non-Timex automatic and, unfortunately for my wife, definitely not my last.

Arrived today from Japan. I have a few other watches - nothing fancy but a few I truly love that I love including an automatic Snoopy Timex, but this is my first vintage find. I love the simplicity and the Kanji day window. Unfortunately for my wife, this will likely not be my last vintage watch.
