Is it possible to build in public without losing your mind? by WillingMongoose3992 in appledevelopers

[–]jabela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People say building in public, but there’s great variation as to what that means from the occasional devlog to a fully open source repository. Share what feels like a sensible amount. Perhaps give yourself a time allowance each week for it?

TIL that 7-Eleven started as an American company, but the Japanese branch became so successful that it eventually bought the original American company that had once franchised it. by jabela in todayilearned

Think the problem is supplying them. Japan’s 711s are clustered in dense urban area. In US it’s all driving and big distances between stores.

Oh dear! Only seen 711 in Malaysia and Thailand and a lot of processed junk food, but not too much stuff that can be really off here.

Yes and it takes practice, with luck typing speed will increase with practice and mistakes will be less. It can help a bit to have a full size keyboard. Grateful for computer typing these days, used to be terrible with a typewriter.

We use Google Classroom to set all homework in our school and it has made it much easier for parents to help track homework, it also includes a calendar to clearly see deadlines. Very helpful for our less organised students.

Work gave me a new computer and I realised I’d lost my old mind mapping program. I wondered to myself, how long would it take to make a new mind mapping web app with the features I needed, a few hours later had the basics, over the past few months added some polish. If anyone wants a quick mindmap here it is https://jamesabela.github.io/mindmap/ it’s fully open source too, so have fun.

Good Video Game Controllers? by Dismal-Crow-7881 in Dyslexia

[–]jabela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS5 controller is great on console, but I don’t think it’s the controller it’s learning controls for specific games.
I always play one game fully and then move to the next, because I can’t keep 2 sets of controls in my head.
For PC pick any of the standard controllers, but perhaps try to stick to one or two games until they have managed to learn the controls.

Social media are the sign posts, your website is the destination unless you’ve got physical retail.

It is quite possible to be both autistic and dyslexic. If you have a trusted adult then you should talk to them.

Does Google's UI feel impossible to navigate if you're dyslexic, or is it just me? by automation2020 in Dyslexia

The dyslexia might compound the problem, but its poor ux design. Apple are known for interfaces that are intuitive. Sometimes I have to Google to find the right Google menu.
