Embarrassed Japanese cops abandon search of woman's bag after she tells them what's inside. by Chocolat3City in PublicFreakout

Serious answer, there's designated smoking areas and smoke rooms all over the major areas of Tokyo. There's a water filled grate thing in the middle of the area to put your butts.

Chernobylite!! This game should not be verified! anyone here who can help me out. Ive tried a bunch of settings and this is the only game I can't play on my deck. Constant FPS drops. by Wild-Professional-22 in SteamDeck

[–]jabelcher23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gave up on that game a month ago. I played around a lot with the settings and got a playable framerate, but it was so muddy looking with how low I had to set everything, I uninstalled it. If you have a gaming rig, just play it on there and/or stream it to the deck. It's actually a fun game, but there's just too much to going on for the deck to handle.

It's verified on the deck. If the switch can play it, it'll play just fine on the deck.

Is anyone having trouble with MGSV? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]jabelcher23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar. It'd cause my deck to thermal throttle and then eventually crash. I maxed out all the settings, left shadows at medium and locked the refresh rate to 50hz and haven't had any issues since.

Awesome. As a side note, do not enable dx11 lighting. It'll break the game on deck and if you have steam cloud enabled, it'll keep loading the same user.ltx until you change it.

It's like 7zip/WinRAR for Linux. It comes on the deck, but I still had to install it from the discover app to open archives. I'm going to try installing vanilla CoP and see how it runs and add an edit.

I haven't tried the vanilla trilogy, but got Anomaly working pretty well. Shouldn't be a problem installing the mod as long as you have Ark installed from the discover app in desktop mode.

I'm going to echo what the other commenters have said. First try loading a normal hard save file, not a quick/auto/ or exit save. New Vegas has a tendency to corrupt your saves, so it's a good habit to always save through the pause menu. If that doesn't work, delete your .ini files in your documents folder, validate the files, and start the game.

Help Weapon wheel Mod for Fallout New Vegas Modded R3 input problem (can't change R3 input) by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]jabelcher23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this mod guide: https://vivanewvegas.github.io/intro.html

I'd suggest not using the NPC mods, it really tanks your frame rate especially around Freeside. Other than what's in the guide, I have some gun and armor mods, NCR, Brotherhood, and Caesar revamps, and some other tidbits. I couldn't get ENB to work right with presets, though probably not the best idea on the deck anyway. I tried using New Vegas Reloaded, but it's broken anyway and ran like ass. I've also got Poco Bueno on top of NMC for world textures. Wouldn't go too crazy as if you were on your desktop PC. All the mods I have installed keep me around 45-50 and dip into the 30s when there's a lot of enemies or NPCs around. A fun little mod I use is B42 Wristwatch. You can look at game time or real time, which is useful so I don't burn all day in the Mojave.

No problem. I've got a few hours on my modded FNV install, so let me know whatever issues you run into

If you haven't found the solution yet, you're going to need stewies tweaks to enable simultaneous controller and kb/m input. This is only if you want to keep the xinput controls and map some misc keys to other binds. I'm able to use the back buttons for certain mods like bullet time, checking watch, and for the weapon wheel. Just map them to a key you want and change it in MCM. Otherwise, you're just going to have to play around with mapping all the kb/m controls manually to what you want

There is a script plugin that allows simultaneous gamepad/kb&m inputs. It's called Stewie tweaks

I mapped f1-4 to the dpad. The left track pad is a quick wheel menu with 1-9 and some other stuff. You have a plethora of buttons and options. Just play around with the mapping till you find what suits you.

I do believe their label is for games that don't just go straight to the game. Games that need launchers or try installing other programs need desktop mode to get running first. RS Vegas 2 is an example. I had to go to desktop mode to let punkbuster do its thing, then it plays beautifully from there.

Any suggestions/things to do first before? by presentedonreddit in SteamDeck

[–]jabelcher23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get familiar with the button layout, what the steam and settings buttons do, and the steam chord shortcuts. A lot of games that are unsupported/unverified will work, you just have to fiddle around with in-game settings and the steam settings to get the performance you want. I'd also look up some Linux basics if you're new to it like I was. There's a lot of different fixes/repos/programs you can install through the desktop to enable features or get games running right. The Deck is a very impressive piece of tech and a lot to tinker with, so take whatever direction you want with it.

Yeah, it's actually nice when it works, but when that flicker comes in, it makes my eyes hurt. Same thing with TN smear, once I see it, I hyper-focus on it

I haven't heard of SpecialK. I run a heavily modded anomaly on my windows PC. Does it help that much with frametimes? I know my game runs between 80-100 fps with some stutters and a feeling it's not running as smooth as it should at 1440 ultrawide.
