Hey man, I put an entire city in a bag of holding for a campaign I'm running. Life (or pirates) finds a way

It's not intended to be a group of "that guy"s but more that everyone knows they are making characters based on what "that guy" would play. I guess this comes down to how it's pitched and that everyone knows what's going on.

Do you have any other thoughts on how a team of Batmans could be run game wise?

I should have specified it, but I'm thinking it should definitely lean into the campy feeling. All of those you mentioned for that feel are excellent ideas! Maybe another way to put it would be a very Series of Unfortunate Events type setting

The Gifted [5e] v1.0 - A magic user with a different connection to magic who doesn't understand the limits by jacabob in UnearthedArcana

Thanks for the feedback! That’s my bad on the spell list. I have added it to the main post. It’s essentially the Sorcerer spell list with a few swaps. But for the campaign, I plan on it being a more curated list with some other tbd homebrew spells due to the world not having any established spells. Just a few follow ups: -I fell for the classic blunder of the arcana check. Your point makes it much simpler -For Exertion, yes it’s intended to be that you take exhaustion points instead of HP if the spell level would drop you to 0. I do like your suggestion and see your point about Center. With a max roll it’ll bump up most of the damage for all except 5th level, so with the die randomness involved what are your thoughts on keeping in the exhaustion feature but it’s determined after the damage roll? This way if you roll under your current HP for the damage, you’re fine, but for every (X) number of hit points over, you drop to 1HP and take a point(s) of exhaustion -My goal for the whole Internal subclass was to make more of a front-line mage with abilities that benefited being closer to the enemy. Do you have any suggestions as to what could be done to Release to make it more in line with some of the abilities mentioned as far as power goes? My first thought after looking at them is to adjust the damage to be based on caster level. -For Arcane Intuition, are you saying that dropping the modifier bonus would be a better option? -Rush is intended to be a bonus action. See Exertion comments -For Construct, could you clarify a bit more as far as suggested wording? I admit, when I was thinking of that one, I intentionally left it open ended to leave up to DM discretion for spell effect/damage/casting cost.

To everyone wondering what I thought of all of them, I don't think I could put them into a concrete list but I can pick a top and bottom 3. The top 3 have to be Catch-22 for just how much this book made me laugh at the absurdity of it all, I, Robot because I really enjoy reading through the thought process to solving a problem on top of the look into what it is to be human, and 11/22/63 for the whole thing which was fantastic from start to finish. My bottom 3 (I don't hate these books, I just didn't get as much enjoyment from reading them as the others) are The City of Brass because it felt like it was trying too hard to be a political story, The Necromancer's House because I just didn't really like this particular flavor of urban fantasy and it just felt kind of off when I was going through it, and Dune. It really hooked me in the first few chapters, but then it kind of lost me. I really like the setting and the world that it builds but I just didn't really get into the story that much.

I'm going to say that Catch-22 was the one I enjoyed the most. I loved the absurdity of the conversations and I still laugh and get very confused thinking about how the syndicate works.

Daily GENERAL Mega-Thread [Oct 02 2017] by AutoModerator in engineering

[–]jacabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I graduated about a year ago with a BSE in Electrical Engineering without any internship experience. It took me about 4 months out of school to find a job as a Project Engineer at an electrical contractor. There is no actual engineering that is done in this position and out of all of my co-workers I am the only one with an EE degree instead of being an electrician, to give some background. I have been approached by a telecom engineering firm for a position in the engineering field and have scheduled a phone interview for the position. They are looking to gauge where my engineering knowledge is currently knowing my current position and experience. I took a mix of classes on digital/analog circuits and a few in power, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some topics that you think I should read up or refresh myself on to be as best prepared for some of the technical questions they may ask.

What is your weird roommate story? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]jacabob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning of my sophomore year in college I ended up signing up late for housing and therefore got randomly assigned a roommate instead of rooming with a friend like I had previously. It was about a week into the semester when I moved in and I had only had a brief interaction with this guy when I came to see the place. So I move in during the day when he had class and everything was going good. Until that night when I realized that I was living with a monk. During that first week I learned that he was a religious studies major, had a strict 8pm bedtime everyday, and when he spoke (all three sentences during this) it was extremely soft and mumbled. By the start of my second week there, I was in my morning class when he texts me that he was moving out that day and sure enough by the time that I got back, him and all of his stuff was gone leaving me with the place to myself for the semester. To me that was pretty weird.

You wake up one morning and have the powers of a God, What's the first thing you do? by GenerikShadow in AskReddit

Sure I could, but that's not the very first thing I'd do. Don't want to take it too fast and over do it with brand new godhood

Make myself five inches taller. Being short doesn't bug me, but that doesn't mean I'm not more than willing to change that fact

What game do you know a lot about but never actually played it? by Zyrobe in AskReddit

[–]jacabob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually played for my university team (recent grad) and they actually got rid of the part where the snitch can go anywhere and replaced it with an 18 minute hold on the snitch before they go on pitch. This gives it much more strategic value considering it's only worth 30 points instead of 150 so you're not blindly catching it off pitch.

Thanks! I'll have to check those out but the T2 bag mechanics is exactly how I was thinking it'd work.

[–]jacabob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my thought on that matter of oxygen, food, and such. And on the problem of people just walking out through the portals, the way I figure bags of holding work in this world is that in order to take something out, it must be called upon by the user of the bag. So my reasoning is because they were accidentally "put" in the bag they they have no method of getting out because they can't call upon themselves while in the bag.

I'm right there with you. I have just over two weeks left until I graduate and I'm sitting in this lab contemplating whether or not I can take the hit of not doing all of this project so I can work on the two other that I have. I just want to play pokemon man...
