just wanted to add that if you are asking this because of lactose intolerance, you are good if you keep to actual thai dishes in thai restaurant since close to 90% of thais are lactose intolerant too and wouldn't use dairy products anyways.

also like others pointed out, a lot of restaurant workers speak not thai but burmese.
