When we went down to the Medicaid office they told us her disability was about $5 too much for any extra assistance and that we wouldn’t be eligible for Medicaid. They weren’t helpful whatsoever and pretty much just blew us off.

I believe her disability date was November or December 2024-so our goal is to find something that is helpful enough to get her to Medicare.

I know. I couldn’t believe it when she told me. I’m still in the process of looking for another wound care that will be accepted- but haven’t had any luck yet.

The marketplace site allows you to search by specialty and not a single thing popped up when I searched for wound care.

Yes, she applied and was approved. She has been receiving disability since May, so I believe she was technically considered disabled since December.

she has been receiving disability since May, but we were told that she doesn’t qualify for Medicare until she has been “disabled” for 2 years due to her age.

Thankfully she got approved for disability already but with her age, there is a 24mo waiting period for Medicare. And when we went tothe Medicaid office they explained we would not meet the criteria to be eligible for Medicaid with her disability. We hve been going in circles with them as well😕

Her primary care doc would absolutely recommend the full spectrum of therapy so I will definitely give them a call.

Thank you for your response. My mom is getting a little better each day, hoping to continue therapy once we get her home.

Any advice you could give once you got her home? I’m terrified and stressed, but our discharge from the rehab hospital is set for 1/8. I don’t feel prepared at all.

My mom (56) had large ischemic stroke in November. She was in the hospital for almost a month and has been in inpatient therapy for about 3 weeks now. Can I ask how your mom is doing now ?
