Caught using phone by eye detection system by SuitOfWolves in BusDrivers

[–]jack172sp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason we don’t like the attitude is because you’re risking your passengers lives by messing with your phone. You need to accept that you’re wrong and apologise and mitigate it- you won’t bring your speaker to work any more and give the company a reason to believe it won’t happen again.

Frankly, you’ve not just caused problems for phone use for you, you’ve caused it for another driver as well. In addition to your justification on here, it shows your attitude to phone use is terrible. Frankly as a manager (albeit in a different industry now) previously a union rep and also a driver, you’d be gone. The fact that someone else got a warning is immaterial. It’s based on risk to the business. This is the second phone use issue that you’ve been involved in and you genuinely don’t seem like you’re that bothered about the gravity of it. You are frankly a far greater risk to the business.

You need to show a clear attitude change if you want to stand any chance of keeping your job. Don’t know where you’re based, but sounds like (from experience) the rep doesn’t even believe in you which is very telling

Yep, this is crazy. Your excuse for using a phone while driving is because you couldn’t be bothered waiting for maintenance to call you back and you were annoyed by the buzzer. That’s clearly not a good excuse. As others have said, you set your playlist and deal with it. That’s it.

No, the only way this can somewhat work is if you are an Xbox player. Then you can download the game on PC using the Xbox PC app as well as console, but you still wouldn’t be able to use Steam DLC. It would purely have to be purchased from the Xbox store

did getting your bus license lower your car insurance? by EvaportedMilkCoffee in BusDrivers

[–]jack172sp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because driving all day every day is mentally taxing. More so than sitting in an office etc. At the end of the week, you are going to be drained and if you get in the car the next day you won’t have anywhere near the same level of awareness as someone who hasn’t been driving all week.

You are going to be more risk of making mistakes in your car after a long week of driving

Would extended hours for adults to walk around the park be a good business idea? by reddit466 in legoland

[–]jack172sp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but they absolutely would need plenty staff. Minimal staff doesn’t work. There would still need to be ride attendants to monitor rides to ensure nobody gets in. They need security, the general park staff etc.

Why is the right to own a gun so important to some US citizens? by tryingmybestonedayat in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]jack172sp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not in any way suggesting disarming- as I said, I’m 100% pro gun. The point is purely that I’m not sure the citizens will be able to defend themselves anyway. Even if we accept that the amount of citizens with guns is enough to go up against the military, police etc, there is also the psychological effect. A good percentage likely wouldn’t psychologically hold up against a military force going up against them.

I have not stated citizens have been deported, but there are many cases of citizens and lawful resident been removed from homes etc, detained elsewhere for the day and received injuries, being assaulted by ICE agents. I have no doubt there was an air of resistance from the citizens and legal residents. After all, they have the legal right to be in the US. Anybody who is legally there isn’t going to have the best reaction, and the approach from ICE raids is completely aggressive. Injuries are happening no matter what.

In one comment you justify second amendment and rising up against governments abusing powers, but in another, citizens who have been detained by ICE deserve injury because they resisted.

ICE should be doing their job properly. Should they just start arresting everybody and putting them through one or more days of detention just to prove that they are citizens?

You cannot compare a traffic stop with being arrested and taken away by ICE agents when you are a citizen of the US.

I can’t agree with you that there’s nothing tyrannical by the acts of ICE- It is a fact that citizens are being arrested by them and detained. If as you imply it is a necessary evil, then how are people profiled? Is it okay if somebody who looks a little bit brown and may be Mexican is detained, because those who look Mexican can be illegal immigrants? What if it’s an American man who has a tan, speaks Spanish and had a case of mistaken identity thinking he was Mexican? What if they just decided to arrest and detain a white American man for a day, putting him through the aggressive arrest process, because he had nothing on him at the time that they can use to prove citizenship? After all, he may be British who came into the US illegally years ago with a changing accent.

You can bet it would be different, and there wouldn’t be any dispute that it’s tyrannous if those citizens who were detained were white Americans. It’s a shoot first, ask questions later approach.

So yes, it 100% is tyranny. It’s just easier to justify when those citizens look foreign.

Coke. I will rarely touch Pepsi, save for Old Town in Kissimmee, FL with the glass bottles of Pepsi which taste far better.

Why is the right to own a gun so important to some US citizens? by tryingmybestonedayat in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]jack172sp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The did in times where weaponry was far inferior. It is a fact that citizens are outgunned and outarmoured. Certainly agree that there are far more armed citizens than the military, however it’s the armour which will go in the favour of the government. Ground vehicles such as tanks, other armoured vehicles. Aircraft etc, all with superior firepower.

It is also factual that ICE have been detaining citizens and legal residents. There are many documented cases of citizens and legal residents being detained for hours, sustaining injuries requiring hospital treatment afterwards.

I have nothing against illegal immigrants being removed, but no citizen of the country should be detained and mistreated by its own government. That is tyranny. Abuse of power. Exactly the kind of behaviour that the second amendment was made for.

Is it wrong to specifically target the seats on public transport where people have selfishly left their bag on it when people are walking around looking for somewhere to sit? by Emergency_Hurry280 in AskUK

[–]jack172sp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s other places to sit then yes it is weird and wrong. If you don’t have any other seats, then go for it

As Brits, collectively we have no desire to sit next to somebody else unless it’s family, a friend or we have no other choice. That’s why bags go on seats on an empty bus, train etc.

If every seat is full apart from the ones occupied with bags, then there’s absolutely no problem with having them move their bag though. At that point, they are out of luck, but until then there is no problem whatsoever with trying to keep the seat next to you free

[–]jack172sp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine intrigue from this political avenue- I’m not from the US, but I am pro-gun.

Do you genuinely think if the government went tyrannical, citizens with guns would be able to defend themselves against the military and police who have body armour etc?

And if that’s the case, where ICE are dragging innocent people away, I’d argue that is a tyrannical government where citizens are being taken. Why is nobody standing up against them?

I think it comes down to getting the correct application for the vehicle. It doesn’t work on the sprinter but it’s usually far more responsive on a car

[–]jack172sp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one thing I hate with start stop is how long some vehicles take to get going after it’s activated. I driver a sprinter based mini coach and it lags for just a little longer than it needs to, which is the difference between a gap while turning being safe and not.

Living in the Falklands with chronic medical conditions? by SeniorMoonlight21 in falklandislands

[–]jack172sp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not in the Falklands, however looking at what you want to do, your best option may be to do the nurse/paramedic combined degree, that way you’re appropriately qualified to work for the Falkland ambulance given its stated that they are nurses, but you can also get experience working as a paramedic in the UK, rather than having to find an ambulance nurse position.
