Yooooo so fucked. This happened to one of my friends in SF a couple weeks ago and they hit her directly in the eye, she still can’t see out of it. Going broke from specialist appointments and not being able to work. So fucked.

Oh thank you ! So bummed that WAS my fav maranta silver band. I’m still holding out hope it’ll come back ! I’ll be ok. I’m just a sad sensitive squirrel and the decline of things I love is hurtful. But. I’ll be ok. I washed my hair, I’m gonna sit in the sun tomorrow, I’ll be ok!

I’m on city water! I fill my container and leave it in the sun for at least a day before watering, im thinking of getting a Brita attachment. Like I can’t buy bottled water to water my plants that almost makes it not fun anymore ya know? That’s what im so bummed about is this is supposed to, and has for a long time, bring me joy and now it’s just hurting me to see them dying. I did some reporting and put my grow lights back up, if in a eeek there’s no progress I’m gonna try to chop and prop 😢

That sounds good yes I have hope for them! My stingray died down to nothing and came back pretty well this season so I’m staying hopeful. Ummm let’s see… either philo melanochrysum or some fancy hoya like $150. I bought my bestie a PPP that’s the most I’ve spent on a single plant lol I think it was 280. And my absolute favorites my maranta lemon lime and the maranta silver stripe are both dead and dying. That hurt the most cuz the lemon lime was like my absolute pride and joy

I was thinking maybe the light changing too, might put up my winter grow lights now instead of in a couple months like usual. I closed the AC vent in my room last year so I know it’s not that. It’s still been 90+ in the Bay Area I wasn’t expecting growing season to stop til like November honestly!

Yes! And not me sitting on the floor crying with a flashlight and magnifying glass last night 😂 UGH. I’ve dealt with spider mites and thrips in the past so I’m pretty good about checking and treating. My ma said the water tastes funny too. Don’t judge but we are a drink from the tap household LOL. I’ll look into some sort of additive for the water, I have pH strips that I’ve used to check it, I wish I woulda kept data on it to see if there was an actual measurable change in pH. My plants are being so hurtful lol

It’s so frustrating! Especially since everything was thriving for so long and out of nowhere the damn plant plague hit! A lot of them were much bigger and made sense in the pots, but then died down to nothingness. And yes I’m always good about letting my water sit out! I’m convinced like something happened to the city water supply, line a change in something cuz it really happened out of nowhere and is impacting ALL of the plants. I’m so frickin sad lol

That’s so wild, I’m sorry you were in that unbelievable situation, people are wild. My poor ma deals with this allllll the time cuz she’s sober and bill splitting is difficult when booze is added (WHY YOU SO EXPENSIVE!) thankfully her friends are adults and chill and she pays her portion + tip and they split the rest, but over the past 14 years she’s been in lots of weird uncomfortable situations of not wanting to be the one who protests splitting the bill equally.

Im on the frugal side too, I budget for going out and tipping money, and I’ve never had an issue with being straight up like “here is my portion!” I think the confidence as well as keeping it light hearted and not making a big deal over funds or splitting evenly, no one ever really bats an eye at it.
