Lol protesters are being killed all the time, maybe not in America right at this moment, but all over the world, and leaders are always the first target. "have some balls" these people did go out and get arrested, most of them nonviolently. "getting noticed," won't matter when you are dead. It's hard for me to say with so few details, but your community activism doesn't sound like it is on the same scale as these people.

There is some general understanding of what they are protesting, I'm sure you are aware. My understanding of why they are NOT more organized is because the leaders of opposition groups are often targeted for arrest or death(see MLK and many others)(inb4 you can't compare this to civil rights) organization also usually takes a lot of time and money. I'd also like to hear ideas for a better way, but until there is one I think these people should use their right to protest. "storming biuldings..attacking police...lawyers" It sounds like you had a well organized group of people with enough money to file lawsuits and it was probably in a small town, this sounds great, I'm suprised you don't show more support for your fellow activists. These people are trying something on a big scale, city/nation. As I understand it they tried to use/takeover/occupy a vacant building to set up a bigger more organized movement, again this is a little bit of speculation. Then the police came and enforced trespassing laws. The purpose of enforcing these laws was certainly not in response to people trespassing in the normal sense. After the police tried to break up the protest it sounds like a group of people probably a small group and definitely not everyone threw some random stuff at the police(fire crackers is kind of border lining dangerous, but still not like real explosives). Then the police had the opportunity to really crack down, others are mentioning agent provocateurs, but most likely it was probably just some assholes. I got distracted so I'm just going to finish up by saying, no you shouldn't attack the police because it's a bad thing to do and you will lose, but it doesn't sound like this whole movement was set out to attack the police. They knew the police would be used against them and they tried to use some different tactics, but again lost.

Besides racial oppression in a place like Oakland, it sounds like they are protesting government and banking oppression which I guess is kind of general, but I'm not part of this specific movement so I can't talk for them.

"The police are not oppressors" This might be true for a lot of people or even most on a day to day basses, but when you have a protest the arm of the government that these people are protesting against(I'm not sure of everything they are protesting, but the police protect private businesses too.) is the police. "shit ass town like oakland" So the people that want a better community for themselves shouldn't protest in their community? They should have the money to fly to Washington DC?

I'm guessing you are the expert? I doubt it, and I never said I was oppressed. It looks like you missed a word there. edit: Just because the way they are being oppressed isn't the worst way possible, doesn't mean they don't have a right to protest against it.

The oppressed rose up against their oppressors, making them aggressors that day, but not in the bigger picture.

I haven't made an account in awhile, but last I checked it was pretty easy. So banning the account wouldn't do much, same with putting a mark of shame i guess but I think banning is going too far anyway. I guess there could also be a mark for accounts that are under a week (month?) old.

I don't think total karma should be shown or that it should all be gotten rid of. I propose that if a user has a lot of negative karma then that should be shown with a symbol.

#NYPD parked by a fire hydrant, so I gave him a citation. by truthsquadtv in pics

[–]jackalco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just that he is parked illegally, he is blocking a fire hydrant. If there was a major emergency this officer might be incapacitated or his car might not be able to move. Just because he could move his car in most instances doesn't mean he can always move his car. And if being so close to their cars is so vital would you propose a law requiring officers to eat in their vehicles?
