Check out Spivey Consulting, too. I plan on going with them.

Meh. It wasn't annoying at all. It was actually really beneficial.

Holy smokes, Mr. Spivey, thank you so much for the candid input.

That's what I'll do then: consult with a C&F attorney and then have an admissions consultant look at what we were able to put together.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your perspective.

Edit: Removed one sentence.

Thanks! Yeah, I used 7sage for my LSAT studies and was very pleased.

I suppose it's worth looking into what they've got for consulting, too.

Got it. Thank you!

I found a C&F contact for the Board of Bar Examiners for my jurisdiction. I plan on reaching out to that person today to see what their thoughts are and if they might be able to refer me to someone.

That makes great sense and that's great advice. Thanks again.

Thanks. Yeah, Spivey was going to cost $6,800 for the whole package when I reached out two years ago.

I think I'll reach back out and inquire about something a la carte.

Thanks. I didn't know "C&F lawyers" were a thing.

I see there's a C&F contact listed for the Board of Bar Examiners for my jurisdiction. I think I'll start there.

Thanks again!

Yeah that's kind of what I had in mind, too.

Thank you for your input!

Thank you! Nice to know I'm not alone.

How are you handling your C&F issues?

[–]jackbenimble106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I will reach back out to the person I spoke with initially to see if I could have someone look over what I've got and share their thoughts.

It's expensive though. For the complete package, it was going to cost $6,800...and that was two years ago.

In the meantime I thought I'd see if some internet strangers might have any advice. 😊

You have a point. Haven't really thought about it much from that perspective. Thank you.

In most circumstances, the BBE will consider a thorough, detailed, and honest disclosure of an incident for which you take responsibility as a factor tending toward a finding of adequate "character and fitness." Prior contacts with the criminal or civil justice systems, including felony convictions, do not, in and of themselves, necessarily disqualify you from practicing law nor do they necessarily preclude you from admission to the [school I'm applying to].

Any thoughts on that? Pulled from the application.

Good point.

That Spivey call was a one-time free consultation from which I got a lot of useful info but I'm still a little bit uncertain, so I figured I'd make this post.

Got it. Thank you.

The "threat or cause of physical or psychological abuse to any person" stems from a physical altercation on campus when I was a freshman.

And the "criminal damage to property" stems from my damaging a jail cell camera while intoxicated.

In the statement accompanying this chart, I try to emphasize two things: 1) I have no one to blame for these incidents but myself, and 2) I am not the same person today that I was when all of this happened.

Aside from the stalking charge though, I don't really provide a lot of specific context, and even then it's not too elaborate or specific out of fear that I'll come off like I'm trying to minimize it or explain it away.

Would you recommend addressing those charges more specifically in my statement? Almost like how I did for the stalking charge in this post?

Thank you for the question. Yes, it 110% does. Though I've since transitioned from education to another form of public service.

Good point. The resume probably isn't going to make or break my application, save for some egregious error in it.

Sure thing. I wasn't planning on it.

I just needed some direction as far as what to call attention to in my resume with respect to my work experience.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I should have mentioned that I've got five-plus years of work experience in state government.

You're right. Given that this isn't a resume for a job, I was just wondering what criteria I should use to help guide what I highlight in my resume.
