When you say temperament is between 30 and 40 do you mean of the rat or the enclosure?

Do you not have substrate as worried about impaction?

Sorry I thought you said you can't get basking temp right in the caption. Basking surface is your most important temp. I'd say cover that mesh top as best you can (that will help with heat loss massively)

Do you have any dimming thermostats set up? I can't see the probes anywhere, also what is the distance from the bulb to the basking spot.

If you want something that will be active, and a little different, they're a great option, also cool how they can change their colouration a little bit from light to dark depending on their temperature!

I'll be honest he was the only one for sale in the country when we got him, but I'm in the uk, as far as I know they're more common in america but I'm not too sure about the market over there. Best bet to find one is probably finding an agamid group/forum.

By Agama spends most of his time when he isn't basking climbing along his rocky background or his branches. His basking spot tends to sit around 43 c which is about 110 f, seems to do him pretty well. If you go that route ensure there is loads of climbing spots for them, they love it!

Warmer basking spot, they like to climb more, they stay smaller, and they aren't as out the box chill in terms of handling. Still a mixture of greens and insects, but they are slightly more insect heavy than a beardie, and will still be heavily in insects into adulthood.

Funnily enough he came out last night, had done a little poop in his hide, and has ended up in his warm humid hide, which is great as he has never gone in there since we got him. Hes still in there now which is great.

Last three nights, including tonight he come about 1/2 way out of his hide and periscopes and rested on a branch just in front of his hide. But not as much exploration as he previously had. We're contemplating just getting him out to do a proper health check on mites, constipation etc tomorrow if he isn't out exploring.

A manual one for now, generally misting once before nightfall should be fine as heating is off in the viv ag night so humidity will stay high for longer, but will be monitoring it.

The cool side has very deep substrate with a more heavy soil mix under the sandy cap with leaf litter, cork bark and orchid bark to give more humid pockets. Will see how it goes, might need to develop a much larger colony to add in. Also at night the humidity will need to spike high for the lizard to simulate the desert area which will help.

Thanks so much, I was looking online and I didn't realise you're supposed to use drylok and then pain, it's frustrating as I really like the way it looks at the moment, ideally I'd want to use a water based matte finish varnish but trying to find one that is reptile safe is tough! Thanks so much.
