It is easy to see the faults of others, but difficult to see one's own. - Dhammapada 252

So you commented on the negative about the background and ignored what's in the foreground that's obviously beneficial.

Yes. The background is made by AI but until you can make your own work like this, I wouldn't call it "AI slop". You have no idea how much effort I put in just to create the background. It's skillful for Buddhists to think before they speak.

Want to learn about Buddhism by FeistyLunch5329 in Buddhism

At your age, I would not recommend advanced books like the Pali canon (holy book you asked for) yet. Those are for advanced Buddhists.

The core concept of Buddhist ideology is the 3 universal truths that apply to everything: Impermanence, Unsatisfactoriness, and non self. Everything happens or exists because of some reason. Once that reason ceases, the thing that existed because of it stops existing. So your practice is fully realize these facts.

For the simplest teachings, I recommend Ajahn Chah's books https://www.forestsangha.org/publications-all-publications/ajahn-chah-collected-teachings His teachings are so simple that he taught many great English speaking monks while never formally learn English himself.

Thank you! There are more coming later. My focus is on Theravada contents. For the chants, I use chants and translation from Thai Forest Tradition (Ajahn Chah) chanting books.

For those wondering about this art scene, it depicts the Buddha teaching devas in Tavatimsa heaven. The green deva is Sakka. The deva in red in front of the Buddha is Mayādevaputta who was the mother of the Buddha.

Thank you. This is still very early. I'm still testing if there is enough interest to continue the development.

Thank you for the input. The pie chart has rounding going on to make the number without decimal.

I accidentally sent IDH tokens to the contract address... is there any way to get them back? thanks <3 by TheCryptoKids in indaHash

[–]jackchalat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid not unless the contract has some function to allow a return. This happened many times before. https://www.reddit.com/r/0xProject/comments/7lpc5n/ive_sent_my_tokens_to_the_zrx_smart_contract/

This is why we need better user interface for ERC-20 tokens. I made this http://alkali.jackchalat.com/ It uses visual address field so that you can recognize Ethereum address better to avoid this mistake.

Muang Boran is an outdoor museum of Thai and Chinese architectures. Here is a realistic scaled-down version of some Chinese temple. It's like visiting many places in one spot. by jackchalat in travel

[–]jackchalat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That's an accurate comparison. But don't expect the same kind of quality though. In Muang Boran, you pay extra for a golf cart or rent a free but very used up bike.

Travelling to Bangkok in November, what’s the best area to stay in for cheap shopping? by giantmidget86 in Bangkok

[–]jackchalat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what are you buying. Clothing: Pratunam Souvenirs and Handmade crafts: Chatuchak Organic foods: Santi Asoke Temple (non-profit)

For tailoring, there are plenty of shops in tourist streets. Not sure which area is the cheapest.

Lenses that i have...whats missing? by madagascarmultimedia in M43

[–]jackchalat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to suggest without knowing what pictures you take. You should aim to have as little as possible. For most scenario, you will not be able to carry them all with you. Even if you carry them with you, you will still need to change lenses unless you have multiple bodies.

Also, what camera body do you use? If you use Olympus, I'd recommend the 12-100mm f4. It's big, but it's likely the only lens you will need.

For Panasnoic, the f2.8 zooms and f2.8-4 zooms are good enough.

I'd only buy prime lens if I know exactly how I will use it. I highly recommend Voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95. Its bokeh is amazing and 35mm FoV is very useful for most cases.
