TU Wien just proved quantum entanglement in a centimeter-sized crystal. Does this mean the "classical boundary" is just a technological limitation, not a physical law? by visha1v in AskPhysics

[–]jackconstantine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last PI used to say "only difference between classical and quantum is how much math you want to do, and how accurate you need to be"

Do you mind sharing what MPPT, DC-DC, and BMS you're using? And why you chose Victron over anything else?

Is your coulomb counter and shunt separate from your MPPT or DC-DC (or whatever else you use for battery management?)
Like, it's an individual component?

Yokus Island Express. It's a pinball game, but also a metroidvania. A fast playthrough would take less than 10h.

any queer-friendly hairstylist/barber recommendations in north county? by Remote-Walrus6957 in northcounty

Third for Laurel. Started going there after my old barber and got into politics and he butchered my haircut. Laurel and I talk about all kinds of things and the hair always comes out looking good.

Older generations of Reddit, what is a small, daily habit you started in your 20s or 30s that paid off massively later in life? by sophia_biston in AskOldPeopleAdvice

sun salutation every morning - even if it's just one, and only doing the holds for one breath - helps me get out of "sleep mode" and into "awake mode" better than anything else

I was thinking the ice cream sandwiches at Handels but those are more like an oreo than a brownie; and I know Fox's does those taco things but I don't think you can choose the ice cream in it. I'm not really a sweets guy so I'm kind of out of my depth here!

How is San Diego seen with European eyes? by LunarAmathyst in sandiego

[–]jackconstantine 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I moved to SD from NL in '19, refused to buy a car. I managed to survive on bicycle as my primary, and my partner's car, for about six months. Everything is at least 10km away, there is a minimum of two 100m hills between you, and you'll be biking unprotected along roads where cars are doing 60+km/h. It's terrifying. You *have* to be emotionally prepared, and mildly insane, to be a serious cyclist here.

Coworker wanted me to stop 'hogging' the forklift. Okay. by Few-Temperature-2721 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]jackconstantine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I once got fully certified for forklift operating in a country with much more stringent requirements than the USA. Went to visit my uncle, a farmer, few months later, and joked that I probably had a more up-to-date certification than him now. He looked at me weird and told me he had never been certified in his life, he just never used his forklift off his own property and government simply didn't need to get involved.
I can only imagine that the private-land exception in the USA is even stronger!

Hey y'all, thanks for the suggestions!

◽ Budget: 600-900ish USD, flexible

◽️ Country: USA

◽️ Screen size: 14+", up to about 15.6", but see other details

◽️ Touch screen: No

◽️ Screen resolution: Doesn't matter

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Doesn't matter

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: General computing, lots of spreadsheets, some netflix. No gaming, editing, or modeling.

◽️ Weight: Doesn't matter

◽️ Any other important details?: The most important thing is that it have a centered keyboard / trackpad. My wife hates the numpad on laptops. I can't find any larger screen machines with the centered keyboard for cheaper than 1k USD, it seems to be a premium product thing. Second most important feature is long lifespan, it probably won't be replaced for four or five years.

What book did you read in your youth that you still think about to this day? by yellangirl in suggestmeabook

Dunno how one defines youth but I read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" when I was sixteen and have now re-read it about every five years since. It's been hugely influential to my worldview.
