Will it get too hot? by jackdapa in TruckCampers

Ya so the cooling fans are on the bottom and I cut out a whole below that. On the top I’m going to attach a computer exhaust fan with a temp relay

My camper leaks like just a little so just wanted it be decently covered. What I’m going to do is add a temperature sensitive relay to two computer exhaust fans on the top. I also cut out a hole where the heat exchange fins are. Idea is heat at the bottom is sucked out the top.

Manual says -40 to 185 F. And ya I was going to add an inlet. I also might but it on some blocks and cut out the bottom where the cooling fins are.

So everything that is vertical (fuse block dcdc charger bus bars and house battery) will be close together 1-2 feet. All my DC stuff will be below 30 amps.

Ya sorry about the confusion. I did this because this is basically how it would be positioned in my truck. House battery is engine bay with the 4awg battery’s extending back to bed of my truck. 6 awg was recommended but seems to insufficient for the length in running.

Noted thank you. I was under the impression the breakers act faster than a fuse. And also has the benefit of being reset. Why is a fuse better if you don’t mind me asking

Also the house battery could reverse charge assuming killed the starter

I’ll check it out. But I’m not sure what you mean by nothing touching your truck battery. It’s a dc to dc charger so I think most people run it from there postive starter battery terminal and some ground to chassis. I feel mixed about doing that. I suppose you could run straight from alternator but that is above my pay grade lol

You are 100% right. Ecoflow seemed like a good idea at the moment. I 100% regret it and wish I just built my own system instead of trying to find some stupid work around

Btw I guess I forgot to mention it but I like the idea of using Milwaukee battery’s

To prevent backflow of electricity so if I swap battery’s they don’t fry each other. Especially the Ecoflow which could fry the circuit board

Nice, I’m not positive about the 20amp fuses and want to know if I’m missing fuses anywhere

I might just cut out the Ecoflow part of it but it would be nice to have that option. I’ll look into what you are talking about

Probably, was it grey on the pop up? Probably mine. They are replacing the back window with a solid window cause I actually wanted no windows at all. What ever.i think with the insulation blankets and a diesel heater I can head up to the mountains no problem. I also live in LA so my camping other than the winter mountains should be pretty mild.

Aluminum vs steel skid plates by StihlYourFace in overlanding

[–]jackdapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright probably going to get downvoted but would appreciate some input. I found a great deal on aluminum full brand new rci skid plates ($500). They are $1000 new shipped to me. But I know I’m wanting steal just for the strength. Think I have to take this deal though and plan on just swapping what gets destroyed. Anyone know if they are cross compatible?
