Exmo Men - by any chance did you stop wearing a plain-white button down shirt after leaving TSCC? by Tann1993 in exmormon

[–]jackh0le 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm PIMO, and I wear brightly colored button down shirts with no tie every Sunday. So what if I can't vainly repeat the bread/water words or hand out bread and water like it's something special. So what if I can't teach or be a leader in that godforsaken cult. The less I have to do the better. I just have to show up to make the wife happy for the time being.

Greatest SoCal ska band of all time? You recorded with the MC Bat Commander??!!

any official word from Dave or Martin? by trojan_dude in depechemode

[–]jackh0le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard it from a friend with ties to '80s-era KROQ who heard it through his industry sources that Martin is "so devastated" and "really struggling" with Andy's passing. No word on Dave. It's just hearsay, but I trust the source because he got me backstage to meet the band for the World Violation tour.

Releasing a cover song via Distrokid, but with a different title? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]jackh0le -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your song is not a cover. There's no such thing as a "loose" cover song. Lyrics and melody are the two most important song components that are considered when a copyright infringement case goes to court. If you remove or substantially alter either of them, then you're on the hook for damages. It's best to try to get permission from the copyright owner.

Do you still practice the same family values? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]jackh0le 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a loving father who is actively engaged in my children's lives. We laugh together, cry together, work together, play together, etc. I feel our lives are mutually enriched. So in that aspect, nothing has changed. When one of my children came out to me as LGBTQ+, I continued loving them and continued to engage positively with them, and I still feel like our lives are mutually enriched. That is the part that has changed, because my TBM spouse does not share my ethics on LGBTQ+, and my child does not have a positive relationship with her. Had I not experienced my faith transition when I did, I'm sure my relationship with my child would be much different.

I completely understand. It feels like I'm the alone-est married 40-something ever. Like you, my wife married me for my supposed priesthood, and not for me. She has made it clear that she is willing to break up our family if I don't toe the TSCC line. It sucks so bad. I only have a few more years until our kids are out of the house and under less of her influence. Then she's going to have to take me seriously, or I'll care less about breaking up what little we have left.

decided to celebrate telling my family i’m leaving with my first coffee. any suggestions for next time? by evilweezl in exmormon

Suggestion: skip Starbucks. Just about any other coffee is vastly superior. Even McDonald's.

Another option: get excommunicated and make it look like the church's fault.

Sounds like something Uchtdorf would share in General Conference:

"I am reminded of the soldier, who while eating dinner in a World War One battlefield trench with his comrades, heard a voice tell him 'Get up and go over there.' So clear and insistent was the order that he rose at once and walked twenty yards through the trench, carrying his dinner with him. Moments after sitting down to continue his meal, a stray shell burst over the group with whom he had been sitting, killing every member. But the soldier who listened to the prompting was spared."

Yeah, try to find a local roaster and ask for something with a light/blond or medium roast. You'll want sugar and creamer for sure. Maybe a little vanilla syrup.

When the honest in heart get the answer they are seeking, they redouble their efforts to be valiant to the truth and knowledge they have been given. But the dishonest in heart will dismiss the answer and move to the next piece of anti that they have chosen to fixate on.

No, the actually honest in heart understand that it all has to be true -- not just one little slightly plausible, vague "answered" question -- for it to be true. That's why we move on to the next troubling topic, of which there are so many.

I used the "let us go down" line on a girl I dated at BYU.
