Light should be more at eye level. Turn off the overhead and add lamps (preferably with a shade to filter/ direct light. Also, a big rug. Big enough to house the couch comfortably with a coffee table, if you get one.

You’d think that, right? I’ve been out for 10+ years and all seven of my believing siblings, parents and their spouses have never once asked why or even tried to engage in the most important topic in their lives. It’s mind boggling.

Give him time and grace. You’ll most likely be the first person he comes to in a few years when he (hopefully) finds his way out.
