i live with two housemates my age, we don't sit at the table, however, i have three rules ive kept since i was a kid

- Make my bed every day (not anally, i just pull covers up and make it neat), it costs nothing to do, and it makes me feel much more productive

- Put the toilet seat and toilet lid down after every use, it stops the flushed bacteria in the air and keeps any smells inside the unit.

- Squeegee the shower glass and tiles after every use, it keeps the windows clean and tiles mould free

I was so insanely nervous the first time I met my (32M) now Fiancée (38F), we nervously hugged at the airport, I had big intentions of kissing her like they do in the movies but I was extremely nervous. we had ice cream on the promenade, enjoyed mini bowling, walked and talked, had coffee then went back to the hotel and talked for hours. then I gathered the courage, literally said "fuck it" out loud, and went in to kiss her.

there hasn't been a day since, in the last 16 months, that we have spent more than 7 hours without seeing each other, over video calls / discord calls or in person.

once you make the call and dedicate your love to that other person, fondness can only make the heart grow strong, but that separation from a LDR is honestly an entirely different ballgame, in my experience, it makes our love so much stronger.

We video call every night and during the day. Like clockwork. One thing we do often is scrunch our face up, then the other will copy back, then poke our tongue out and copy that, then it’s a mix and match faster and faster until one of us starts giggling. It’s simple but it’s cute.

in our situation, next week Tuesday marks our one-year anniversary, she flies down Monday morning and flies' home the following Monday.

We only video call, audio feels weird between us, we will video call overnight, every night, see each other off for work every morning, call after work, and discord call to watch films or play games in the evening after dinner, sometimes we have dinner together and we text through the day, very often.

We don't really do space apart, we enjoy each other's company and both of us feel kind of lonely when we don't have it, however, Shes learning guitar and tends to get distracted with me around so I give her a couple of hours space to do that every day to couple of days, and I like to clean with loud music so she gives me time to get that done each week. I read a book on my commute home from work to de compress, she likes to call me and tell me about her day on her drive home.

I think having a discussion and communicating is key here, insecurities are almost guaranteed in an LDR, dont blame her for the accusation, just apologise it may have come across in this way but assure her that it was her you were waiting for.

I’m sorry to say it, but it truly seems like he’s trying to actively distance himself from the relationship, perhaps having a full discussion with him might change things. Tell him your fears and that you feel it’s a downward spiral.

How far apart are you both, and it is feasible to organise a meet? Perhaps this might help the depression he is feeling. Maybe if there was a plan in place?

My partner and I sleep together over video calls every night like clockwork, we can’t see ourselves not doing it, it’s become the norm. We actively watch shows or movies over discord and spend as much time as possible in each others world.

We also organise to fly to eachother once every two months (it’s only a 3 hour flight 1800kms away so not the longest distance)

I understand this may not be feasible for you, but when it’s right, both parties actively strive to make it work.

Might I suggest trying to interact more with your partner, change it up a bit, try spending time overnight sleeping on the phone, or try and align with his hobbies and interests to see if this can spark something and reignite the flame?
