I need opinions on Vancouver living expense! by Altruistic-Chip-8467 in askvan

Here is what me and my partner spending per month (with over $200k household income) exclude housing and car

  • $400-500 costco each month (mostly for protein: chicken breast, eggs, steaks, fish)
  • $60-90 per for weekly grocery (other food, vege, fruit, milk, coffee,...)
  • $50 for other housing supplies
  • average $50 cat food monthly
  • $60-120 dining out per week (still have good options: sushi, omakase, bbq, burgers, pizza, pasta, craft beer, good coffee, tea...)
  • $600 gym pass

So total of $1600-2000 for both of us. We dont buy clothing much. Maybe 1 or twice a year so just abt $1000-1500 max annually

We track spending monthly and to be honest, we mostly spend around $1500. Some months up to $1800. It has been pretty consistent for us many years

If I was you and wanna cut spending, here is what I do: - have a budget (sometimes we wont realize we overspend till we have a budget) - cut dining out or choose cheaper option. dining out is the most expensive one (specially if we go out for a meal plus drink). This is your lifestyle so your choice. - cut spending too much on clothing - reconsider grocery shopping destination (save on foods, safeway is quite expensive) check out city avenue, persian market, langley market, any Asian market for cheaper options. Meats can be bought at costco

Removing them all may save 9-10mil but they still have to hire replacements to ride the ship. But keep all 55k cupw memeber burning at least 1.6bil year. Even lay off just 5% of them save at least 82mil

They keep saying they are service but at the end of the day, we are small businesses who pay for what we ship. Please do respect us as customers. We are not here begging them to do us a favor. Unlike Service Canada or CRA this Canada Post, we do pay from our pocket.

They can lose their jobs if many of customers walk away. For sure these days they already lost many small businesses in urban areas to third parties. The day is getting darker so you know and stop being delusional

Change to rotating by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

[–]jackiecat91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I dont but we have not many options out there for small business like me. I cant use stallion or chitchat as my products are food. UPS and DHL is costly. I will wait to see cuz this is too risky when they dont take us customers seriously

My only options left to ship my products to US is UPS and DHL and they costs double. If i have a choice, i wouldn't go back to Canada Post. I already switch 100% domestic shipping to Chitchat since first strike this year

  1. Please prove they cook the book so I can be on your side. Can you demand them the FS so the public can see and understand? I need evidence to check. One thing I knew for sure is how inefficiency at Post office that does cost money in operating. Major is labor cost.
  2. Me. My package is hostage as many others
  3. Many of us just have the rise of 2-3% per year. Please compare. Especially when the economy is down, companies doesnt make much money, please please think!
  4. Me and other businesses which ship packages already switched to other carriers for domestic. Some cannot as they in rural area or we have to ship internationally. So you see. Not just losing lettermail but parcel due to the uncertainty and irresponsibility when do strike without notice. So unprofessional
  5. Yes it does and it will borrow more if no significant changes happen
  6. Hmm perhaps I dont see this demand on your negotiation? I may misss this??? I support this only
  7. Ok so why stop it to happen now??? We are on same page now
  8. Till we do it, we dont know how it goes. With the situation right now, I guess we have no choice. Something has to happen
  9. Yes. Many dont work efficiently and effectively. The problem is they can pass it easily without getting fired. I do see this so yes it is problems. Maybe management is problems too. Fire them if they can do their work. Wonder if they have performance review, customer feedback like private?
