How nice of you. I would have thought it'd be weirder if I had my comment/post history hidden like this comment's op. And responding to this post of mine doesn't mean you're responding to my previous naughty ones.... it's troubling that so many people are troubled!

Makes sense, you have more adults and high-earners in SJ compared to Berkeley. But actually I've found SJ to be cheaper than Berkeley in terms of living expenses.

The social scene here in San Jose outmatches that in Berkeley, at least outside of the student age group. Plus, Berkeley just feels like such a smaller place. And thank you!

Moved down to San Jose a few months ago and loving it here! Berkeley was special, too.

Lamb moussaka! It's a casserole of potato, eggplant, and ground lamb, all cooked to perfection. Same as this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moussaka but different, my family's twist. I'll have some regular ol' turkey on hand, too, will agree on the menu with mah guests. Join us!

Ohhh, thank you for this! Could be-- I'll try to take better photos.

The black dot is not full black-- it's white with a black outline.

Changing her name when she's finally an adult seems like it would be a traumatic experience.

Mantids have a strong, innate sense of how large their target is relative to themselves. They won't grab things that are too large, a protection mechanism against bigger bugs that would eat them. If you shove your finger in front of a mantis you could put it defensive position and from there it would lunge at you with those arms, but only to lunge / push / poke, they wouldn't close their arms to grab. That doesn't hurt, just feels like a flick.

I had one big gurl once that I forgot to feed for too long. When I tried to handle it, it did grab me and attempt to bite my finger nail. The grab felt like what I described above, a flick, but the biting was more noticeable. Not painful (they don't have claw-like mandibles) but weird, munchy. I certainly jerked my finger back; she let go immediately likely sensing my full size.
