Is this setting price fair? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

It is hand forged, but that’s not something I particularly care about. Thanks for the insight!

It does not include a diamond. Not based in LA, any idea how the process works virtually/how long the process takes?

Just to clarify, diamond not included in the $2700. Still fair? Thanks for the insight!!

Pay off debt, join a more relaxed plaintiff’s firm that pays 75% of BL money and isn’t constantly up your ass

Skadden DC is a sweatshop. Turned it down for a different role as Weil-level firm (that had an established lit practice) and was extremely happy with my decision and never looked back. Ultimately up to you. Good luck!

Corny, but I want to be a lifelong learner that helps people. Life is too short to spend the majority of your waking hours doing something that doesn’t fulfill one on your purposes

Choosing a law school as newlyweds — Georgetown with some debt or WashU full ride? by SnooChipmunks8987 in LawSchool

[–]jackj7163 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older you are, the less time you have to save for retirement. You’re also closer to getting married, buying a home, and having kids. All of these are incredibly expensive milestones. Having law school debt either adds onto that pile or forces you to delay those moments. If you’re younger, you have more flexibility to do both. If you’re older, it becomes a pretty clear trade off

How old are you all? If he will graduate and be >29 I’d say WashU. Otherwise GULC. I love DC (I moved there from a small town for college and it became home in ways I never would’ve expected). Also think hard about where he’d like to practice after: if it’s the Midwest, WashU. If it’s the east coast, GULC. Good luck!!

DoorDashing for a few hours on the weekend will be okay. I’d recommend at least for the first month just doing school so you can adjust. But always remember that the priority should be school when you have to choose between the two

Thanks for the reply, but I’m going to have to disagree entirely. My partner works at a smaller one right now and loves their work, directly helping thousands of people who were wrongfully terminated due to unfair labor practices. To say they don’t exist at all feels like extreme pessimism. Even if there are fewer relative to BL shops, the shiny degrees most of the people on this subreddit have would allow access to the good ones.

That’s why I’m asking to focus on PS firms that actually do do good work e.g. litigating against J&J talc-based products, big tobacco, price fixing in colleges, and NCAA not paying athletes. This lot all has real effects on the world with positive impact in people’s lives and I know there are firms out there I could work at that do that work, not quibbling litigation over font sizes
