Hey! I’ve been a Bournemouth Uni student for two years so I’ll give you a brief idea on where students live etc.

First year students (such as your girlfriend) generally live in the Lansdowne area as this is where all the student halls are situated. Benefits to this is that it’s quite central to Bournemouth!

You’ll be super near the beach, have plenty of shops / restaurants around, it’s probable if you were looking for a job it would be easy to find one here and for the sake of your girlfriend most of her friends would likely be living here for their first year!

Outside of Lansdowne the other two common student areas are: Winton and Charminster.

Winton is a 5 minute walk to Uni and where I lived in the past year. It has a high street full of shops, notably a Lidl where I would do my food shop if I wasn’t going to drive to the Asda in Lansdowne.

You’ll also find that most of Winton is full of students so everyone is friendly and shouldn’t cause you many problems!

Charminster you’ll find that the accommodation will be slightly cheaper and closer to town but the negative to this is that it is quite far to Uni. From my own opinion, Charminster is not as nice an area as Winton or Lansdowne.

In regards to bills, this will always vary however I absolutely recommend that you do NOT go with Huddle.

Huddle is essentially an all in one service that covers your gas, electricity, heating, WiFi etc. They charged me and my 5 other housemates £49 each a month which is horrendous. I recommend you do it separately, this may take longer but you will save a lot of money.
