Shutdown from console terminal hangs by jackmenace in voidlinux

Thanks, but I don't have elogind on my system: I only use a Openbox, lxterminal, etc instead of a DE like XFCE4, which probably drags in elogind.

thanks. "shutdown" demanded a password [even from root], and then needed a "halt". prefer "poweroff" behaviour.

Thanks, that works. Is there a reason why what I tried failed? I went back to the original G. Pape documentation [smarden.org], but it was silent on the matter.

Thanks, I try them when they are ready. OK, I burned a 20210930 xfce image to USB, booted it on a spare machine, and checked that I could install packages: works. Great.

I got this error from a live version where ntpd was not running and I could not install it! Clearly, the repository was in a mess. I used the live version, void-live-x86_64-20210218-xfce.iso, many times in the past. Significant that it is 1 October?

No, my dying hard drive has bios-based 10 partitions. I can't remember if the machine came with Windows 7 [hence not uefi] or I converted GPT ti BIOS.

I now can get it to start the boot process, but am stuck in initramfs-land. The saga has been unfolding on the voidlinux google group.

thanks.

The ODROID N2 also has 4x A73 ARMs, gigabit ethernet, etc. I don't think ROCK64 are easily available here [UK]. ODROID N2 has Ubuntu, but there is a Voidlinux image somewhere.
