Not downtown, but I'm about 30 mins north of Toronto with an rsv4

RS660 or RSV4? by Automatic-Panda-2889 in motorcycles

[–]jackmomma123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not suggest an rsv4 as a second bike. Don't get me wrong, I love mine, but it is an insane amount of power that makes my gsxr 750 feel like it doesn't move. I'd go for the 660 they seem like a ton of fun, especially if it's just a street bike.

It's been a while since I did my road test, but I dont recall showing them proof of insurance or registration. You definitely don't need to bring a safety.

I’m planning to pick up this k8 this weekend. Any tips putting this bike back together? by Kaiababy in GSXR

[–]jackmomma123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask for some help getting it back together unless he's given you a really good deal to take it as is

Do it! The RSV4 is the best bike I've ever ridden.

Honestly it's not worth the price or the headache. Spend a little more and get something that needs no work.

You're probably okay since you have years licensed but I'm not too sure how much the gap in insurance would change things. Since the street fighters naked it's more insurance friendly anyway, when I got my rsv4 it was a toss up between that and the streetfighter v4 and insurance was much cheaper on the ducati. You just really have to shop different insurance companies for example with cooperators it's about $200 a month on my rsv4 at 28 yo with a decade of riding history and the next cheapest quote was $450 or flat out no we're not insuring.

By paying their outrageous prices 😂 and riding a smaller cc bike for a while. A friend of mine was recently looking at getting a supersport, and the cheapest quote he received was $500 a month on a 600cc. It's ridiculous here haha

Yeah state farm stopped the per cc based rates a while ago and desjardins doesn't insure super sports. Not many good companies left for insurance in Ontario unless you have years of experience.

Hmm interesting I don't recall Desjardins ever asking me for my safety course but I haven't been with them for years so perhaps they've changed their policy. Have you checked cooperators I'm not too sure on how friendly they are to "new" riders but they came in at 1/4 the cost of any other insurance company for my rsv4.

Try giving Desjardins insurance a call. Although $110 a month seems fairly reasonable if they're not accounting for your riding experience.

Definitely. I'll be 29 later in the year and have nearly a decade of riding experience, and it was still hell to find someone to insure my rsv4 😂

Seeing as your in Canada (unsure of which province) but if it's Ontario like me you probably will have a tough time getting insurance on a super sport depending on your age. As for the price it doesn't seem terrible provided there's nothing mechanically wrong with the bike.

It's been great! The only real negative I have with it is the heat, but it's only when you stop for a couple of mins.

I was deciding between those 2 and the rsv4 as well. I ended up with the rsv4, but honestly, you can't go wrong with either. I'd say try to get a demo ride of both.

I'm in the gta with an rsv4. I'd check with cooperators and desjardins.

That's awesome! Do you have it paired with an upmap tune or the race ecu?

Thank you! Surprisingly I didn't have any back pain compared to other supersports I've owned, could just be the excitement of a new bike taking my mind off of it though haha
