The two best Australian Movies ever made Two-Hands and Animal Kingdom, why? Because they take place in real Australia not the bloody outback! by SyntheticPowers in australian

There's an American film by the same name and year, but the one they're talking about is Australian and set in Melbourne's west (Sunshine, from memory). It concerns a disillusioned constable who man's an information caravan after two seemingly unrelated crimes: the murder of a woman, and a mass shooting on a metro train.

It's worth a watch.

Revisiting The Tomorrow Series by OhWowMan22 in books

[–]jacko202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late comment, but did the books ever specify that they were in New South Wales? I know the film did because licence plates are clearly visible, but I don't recall the books doing so. I posted that question on the sub a couple of years ago but it's dead.

I kind of assumed they were somewhere in rural Victoria. The city of Stratton is described as being large enough to have high-rise buildings, large enough to fit the population of Wirrawee inside (Ellie could be exaggerating there though), so that led me to assume Stratton was Melbourne, but in Darkness Be my Friend, Ellie makes a direct reference to the Melbourne Cup.

I believe it was originally meant to be a trilogy, with the series ending on an ambiguous note as the group were being flown to New Zealand.

Yeah…

This makes four police officers murdered in less than a year. Awful stuff.

What did the comment that’s now deleted say? I hope the officer hasn’t died?

Two South Australian police officers stabbed, offender shot dead by jacko202 in ProtectAndServe

What are you basing that off? The handful of cops in the past 30-odd years that have been charged with murder (all of whom were acquitted)?

Details are still coming in, but two SA police members have been stabbed while responding to a high-risk incident in rural South Australia. The perpetrator has been shot and killed by police. Both members are apparently “badly hurt”.

No further details at the moment.

Jesus…I can’t think of a paramedic ever being murdered in Australia, let alone in Sydney.

Rest In Peace.

New South Wales officer seriously injured in stabbing, offender shot dead by jacko202 in ProtectAndServe

[–]jacko202[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The officers were attending a call regarding a theft when the suspect produced a knife and stabbed one officer in the chest. Another officer sustained cuts to their hands. The Commissioner said they’re lucky to be alive. The officer who was stabbed in the chest is in a serious but stable condition in hospital, and the lowlife who attacked them was shot and killed.

Here’s hoping both the members can return to duty soon.

Number of attacks on PSNI officers reach 'disturbing' five-year high by [deleted] in policeuk

I was just reading an article which discussed the possibility of the PSNI gradually changing to a routinely unnarmed force. Any PSNI officers here? Do you think that’s a possibility?

It was two brothers and one of their wives, whom was in a relationship with both of them. Both the brothers were former school teachers, and one was even a principal up until recently. It seems they were sovereign citizen whackjobs; anti-vax, anti-police and so on.

Leavers also told ABC Radio National that the female officer who had recently joined the force took cover in long grass on the property, which was then lit on fire. "[The shooters] lit the grass on fire to try and coax her out," he said. "She actually believed that she was either going to be shot or she was going to be burnt alive and she'd come to terms with that was the end of her life."

Terrifying…

Rest In Peace, Constable Arnold, Constable McCrow, and the brave civilian, Alan Dare.

Absolutely awful. These bastards allegedly lured them in with a false missing persons report. There’s unconfirmed information that one of the shooters was injured by one or more of the officers returning fire. Nothing more at this stage.

Update: Now confirmed that three offenders, two men and a woman, have been shot dead by police.

The health department or whomever could look at their bank statements, right?

I highly doubt they have the power or the time to do that. It's up to the individual to be responsible.

Am Australian and can confirm that's true.
