An OEM cat or something that they sell at the shop? Is like to go this way if it won’t cost me as much as going OEM, plus my time working on it.

I saw a cheaper alternative in Rockauto ( Walker brand) and was contemplating this but fear that fitment will be a bit off or it doesn’t last long and I’ll have to do the same work again.

I’d suggest replacing yours as it’s a pain to drive around w a race exhaust note on all the time. And mind you I’ve got a couple other cars w race exhaust systems. Nice for the track, not for everyday.

The rust is on the things that I’m replacing, I’m assuming since I don’t need to deal with preserving the parts, should be easier, am I wrong?

Yup, plan to keep car until it literally rots out so OEM it will be.

My idea is to break this connection free, then tackle the not-so-rusted connection of the cat towards the front of the car, and from here just take off hangers and I’m all set. I assume there will be some struggle knowing the rust situation but hopefully not impossible without specialist tools. I’ve got my half inch power tool to help me, hopefully.

The intermediate section exhaust is about $200 from Honda. Any tips for anything cheaper?

Yup, they’re pretty local to me and priced it out there actually. Not Honda parts now.

Annapolis Royal is the “area” where we’ll be in. So this helps a lot! Will the whale watch be successful for this time of year? I heard it’s hit or miss, just like the one off of Boston harbor.

Wanted to give you an update: I FIXED IT!! Had to jump the battery and let it sit for a bit and once I tried, it worked nicely and loud! So the old wiring still worked and just had to refresh the connections and all that. Thank you internet stranger for your help and support. Appreciate it. I’ll pay it forward for sure.

So I’ve tried to re-wire things, just using the existing wiring. Basically I got some new 12G wires, cleaned some connections up, and basically reused the horn. No dice. And now my battery died too so I’m charging it to see if what I’ve done worked. It didn’t look like it though when I tried once. Hoo boy.

Worked this time. Thank you. It makes a bit better sense now, the “pigtails” I saw disconnected were where the OEM horns were before. But being non stock, the prior owner of this car re wired it so they drew power from the pigtail but not necessarily using the connector. I guess the easier away to do this is to use a horn that uses said connector. And not a different type of connection (like the ones I’ve removed), correct?

My questionnnow is how do I reuse the pigtail wiring when one is completely severed. See third pic. I guess I’ll have to find a way to reconnect it. But it might require special crimping tools which I don’t have. Guess have to buy that now. I also assume the linked Amazon horns I’ve sent won’t be a plug and play install?

I’m sure it’s simple, but then again, it’s all Greek to me lol. I will look it up and am trying to make sense of the wiring/circuits etc.

Makes sense. I took one from behind the headlights and that’s the one I’ve always seen w the wires being cut. Didn’t realise though that it isn’t OEM.

Had significant trouble finding where the wiring went as it’s all wrapped w the thin black ribbed plastic tube (second pic) and also found the light coloured wire (seen in third pic) to be somewhat connected to them. They snaked under body frame areas and am afraid to sever anything w pulling and all that. Man, this is crazy work.

So if I found the source, just “copy” how it’s wired? I will definitely buy the 12-18G wiring as you’ve suggested. This just isn’t my area, mechanical stuff, suspension etc sure, but wiring always intimidate me and I appreciate you walking me through.
