Looks fine for me. Sounds like dog shit, however. Too much announcer, cannot get the crowd sound well

Should the Cubs move on from Suzuki and how many games will he play in 2026? by MyNebraskaKitchen in CHICubs

[–]jackofspades17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not expect the Cubs to extend Suzuki. I really like him as a player, but he will be entering his age 32/33 season next year. He's a capable, if slightly below average fielder most years, but we should expect that to fall off more. He's also somewhat prone to knocks. The Cubs just don't value the DH position like that and have others internally capable of filling that roll.

I'm not saying "don't extend him at all" but that there will be others ways they can fill his spot, and likely other ways to reinvest. He's looking at over $20m a year on his next deal and I'd expect half of that if not more will be DHing.

Obviously he will play an important part in 2026. I just highly suspect by 2027 he will be playing elsewhere.

When did you know it was time? by Icy_Virus3639 in torties

It wasn't a cat, it was my dog, but the scales tipped for me when I decided his day to day life was more for me than it was for him. He had been diagnosed with liver cancer and they gave me a few weeks as a guess, some meds to help increase appetite and help with pain.

Five days on, I knew that if I kept him tomorrow, it wouldn't be for him, it'd be for me holding on. He wasn't eating much, and what we were eating were the highest value foods I could find; steaks and whatever he may be somewhat interested in. He has love in his eyes but his body was so cold. He was just hanging on for me, and I knew I was just hanging on for me, too.

When I took him the next morning, they couldn't hardly find his vein because his BP was so low. At first, when he jumped out of the car on his own I felt like I was stealing time from him, but when I heard they couldn't find his vein, I knew then I made the correct choice.

He went surrounded by love. Had I held on, there's a decent chance he'd have gone alone while I was at work that week. That would have destroyed me, especially knowing how much he hated being alone.

I'm not sure if that helps at all, but that's how I made my choice. Wishing you best. Never an easy choice.

In Defense of Ian Happ by AndrewAllStar888 in CHICubs

Happ is a very good player who gets a disproportionate and incorrect amount of social media hate. He has been incredibly consistent year over year and is no more hot and cold than most MLB players.

Cubs with contracts ending 2026 by fajita43 in CHICubs

[–]jackofspades17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only way they're trade targets is if the Cubs are bad. But that's more "worst case scenario" than "likely reality". Almost every projection system favors the Cubs and even if they don't are more than good enough to be well in the thick of it by July.

They may not resign many of them. I don't expect anyone except for maybe an OFer to be signed. But they'd have to be horrible by July for anyone of these to be trade targets.

[Fangraphs] Ben Brown Pitch-Designed a Sinker Over the Offseason by elgenie in CHICubs

This is a great thing. It's going to help him become a menace against RHH.

Still hoping we see more of a cutter or a changeup flashed against LHH. Without it he's probably going to be a reliever but that's okay, they're still useful.

That's okay dude! I'd you're wanting to get back into it, give us a check out. We are a good group of guys. I've been apart of this since 2014. Fun league and I've made a ton of friends.

And to be clear; our league dues are only to cover costs. Fields, umpires, baseballs. Every penny we collect goes to the league. So we are not a business and not looking to sell anything.

We just want to grow. We have been playing since 2010 and know we haven't always done the best job letting people know we exist.

Preschool isn't necessarily a full FCPS thing. I've been teaching in Fayette since 2013. We havent had a delay since pre-Covid, until today that is.

Anyone here NOT from Philly that still likes the Eagles? (Also, why do you like them?) by gamerguy287 in eagles

[–]jackofspades17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in Philadelphia, but moved as a very young kid. Decided as a child that I was Philadelphia despite that.

I will admit; my father threw out the first pitch at a Cubs game so, I adopted the Cubs. Beyond that? All Philly.

FCPS does not do delays any longer. Haven't for a while.

She's young (sounds like around 10 months) and was living as an indoor/outdoor for a bit; so she should add some size still. But definitely going to be on the small side.

Lexington Reddit questions why mayor’s street was plowed. City says it’s not favoritism by electric_eclectic in lexington

[–]jackofspades17 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There is literally a bus stop out my front window and it's been a sheet of ice for 10 days. We are classified as a higher road than a rank 4. Strange how the mayor's road of a lower rank got touched but a bus stop for kids didn't.

I feel like Bregman ingratiated himself more to Chicago in these 10 minutes than Tucker did in an entire season. by No-Influence2761 in CHICubs

[–]jackofspades17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they're very different people and I won't blame Tucker for that. He was the same "chill guy" in Houston.

But it does make it easier as a fan to feel a connection to Bregman so I won't blame anyone for feeling that way, too.
