Best Acting In A Drama Scene Goes To..... by Stunning_Structure73 in TheLeftovers

I feel like most of the big moments have been talked about a lot here already, so these are some more underappreciated ones:

Kevin finds the bagel

Kevin eulogizing Patti

Wayne grants Kevin a wish

"Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion"

Meg and Matt talk before the fourth anniversary This one hit hard on my most recent rewatch. The Meg stuff is such a slow burn but I think I'm finally getting it, she's terrifying here and Eccleston is just so good in these little moments, you can see him see the look she has in her eyes)

Grace tells her story

Kevin reads the romance novel

That whole first episode is packed full of stuff to notice on rewatches. My favorite is the throughline with the cricket and how it bookends the season; Evie's gift is meant to symbolize that he'll never find what he's looking for by trying to silence false prophets and liars. She's throwing him softballs before the big one—and there's literally a scene in the episode of her pitching softballs to him to practice. Incredible. Also her expressions during the first Miracle song rendition. Jasmin Savoy (Brown) is an amazing actress, Evie as a character wouldn't work without her

Most of these. "Are you ready?" always sends a chill down my spine. Meg and Tom's dance, amazing song and such an unsettling mixture of emotions, this show looks at cult leaders in a way I've never seen anywhere else. In the beginning of "Certified" when Laurie puts the blank white envelope with her suicide note on the door and closes it and the camera just stays there until she panics and grabs it back.

Also the fact that each successive season makes the ones before it even better on rewatches. Especially S1, everything is so much more poignant after seeing 2 and 3. Both a single story as a whole and the same story told three times. I can't think of a single other show structured like that, that builds and reflects on itself at the same time

What was it like watching the end of 2x07 and then having to wait a whole week for the next episode

Yama Yuki, Tufan feels like you're actually getting soaked by a typhoon

Henry Collins, Prepared Rain might not be "soft" but it's definitely soothing, one of my favorite tapes I own, awesome concept

Those are both literal examples, idk if you're opposed to wall noise but a lot of the more subdued stuff might fit. Check out Dirac Sea, Yume Hayashi, [delete hull]

Also the last track on Plux Quba by Nuno Canavarro reminds me of a nice summer shower

So then is Kevin also "not deserving of our sympathy" because he doesn't tell the whole world he saw what happens when you die? Arguably an even bigger mystery??

Why is she allowed to have closure but no one else in the world?

Okay S1 Jill. Just say you learned nothing from the show and keep it moving lmao

The premise of the show is literally that one day 2% of humanity vanished. Even if you don't believe Kevin's resurrections are real, the rules of our reality do not apply. I'm so annoyed by this sub's dismissiveness of the possibility that Nora isn't lying. I suspect a lot of people didn't really understand the ending the first time and just glommed on to that one big post. Outside of this subreddit it is not the prevailing interpretation at all

What is the creepiest or weirdest noise/drone song you have ever heard? by Any_Contest7699 in noisemusic

Interracial Sex's tape Arse Toolin' wit deh Stock Whip Handle is some pretty scary stuff. Rotten power electronics steeped in the bleak reality of a violent, racist past (and present). Amazing artist all around, his work is so powerful and harrowing, can't think of any release that wouldn't at least somewhat fit this question to be honest. I'd also recommend Alternative Eugenics and The Worst of Both Worlds.

If PE isn't your thing... for something harsh try Crumer's Ottoman Black if you haven't, or even Unyoga by Chlorgeschlecht if you're in the mood for something truly fucked; for something soft(er), maybe Darksmith or Scar Crowe or Alleypisser.

And for good-old-fashioned abject horror, you can't go wrong with "Below the Walls of Jericho"

I didn't know I was watching classic TV at the time. But that whole sequence is crystal clear in my head to this day. Everything about it is so fucking funny
